< Psalms 49 >
1 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all inhabitants of the world,
Thaburi ya Ariũ a Kora Iguai ũhoro ũyũ, inyuĩ ndũrĩrĩ ciothe; thikĩrĩriai, inyuothe mũtũũraga gũkũ thĩ,
2 both low and high, rich and poor alike.
inyuĩ mũtarĩ igweta na arĩa mũrĩ igweta, inyuĩ itonga na athĩĩni mũigue hamwe:
3 My mouth will impart wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will bring understanding.
Kanua gakwa nĩgekwaria ciugo cia ũũgĩ, mĩario ya ngoro yakwa ĩkorwo na ũtaũku.
4 I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will express my riddle with the harp:
Nĩngũtega gũtũ ndĩĩiguĩre thimo; njooke ndaũre ndaĩ ĩno ngĩhũũraga kĩnanda kĩa mũgeeto:
5 Why should I fear in times of trouble, when wicked usurpers surround me?
Nĩ kĩĩ kĩngĩtũma ndĩtigĩre hĩndĩ ya mathĩĩna, rĩrĩa andũ aaganu acio maheenanagia maathiũrũrũkĩirie,
6 They trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches.
o acio mehokaga ũtonga wao, na makeeraha nĩ ũingĩ wa indo ciao?
7 No man can possibly redeem his brother or pay his ransom to God.
Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota gũkũũra muoyo wa mũndũ ũngĩ, kana arutĩre Ngai kĩndũ gĩa gũkũũra mũndũ ũcio,
8 For the redemption of his soul is costly, and never can payment suffice,
nĩgũkorwo ũkũũri wa muoyo nĩ ũndũ wa goro mũno, gũtirĩ irĩhi rĩngĩigana o na atĩa,
9 that he should live on forever and not see decay.
atĩ nĩguo mũndũ atũũre muoyo nginya tene, na ndakanabuthe.
10 For it is clear that wise men die, and the foolish and the senseless both perish and leave their wealth to others.
Nĩgũkorwo andũ othe nĩmonaga atĩ o na andũ arĩa oogĩ nĩmakuuaga; mũndũ mũkĩĩgu na mũndũ kĩrimũ o nao nĩmakuaga, magatigĩra andũ angĩ ũtonga wao.
11 Their graves are their eternal homes— their dwellings for endless generations— even though their lands were their namesakes.
Mbĩrĩra ciao igũtũũra irĩ nyũmba ciao nginya tene, ituĩke ciikaro ciao njiarwa na njiarwa, o na gũtuĩka maarĩ na mĩgũnda yao ene.
12 But a man, despite his wealth, cannot endure; he is like the beasts that perish.
No mũndũ-rĩ, o na arĩ na indo nyingĩ, ndatũũraga; akuuaga o ta ũrĩa nyamũ ĩkuuaga ĩgathira.
13 This is the fate of the self-confident and their followers who endorse their sayings.
Ũyũ nĩguo ũndũ ũrĩa wathĩrĩirio arĩa meĩhokaga o ene, na arũmĩrĩri ao, arĩa metĩkanagia na mĩario yao.
14 Like sheep they are destined for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in Sheol, far from their lofty abode. (Sheol )
Maathĩrĩirio mbĩrĩra o ta ngʼondu cia gũthĩnjwo, na gĩkuũ nĩkĩo gĩgaatũĩka mũrĩithi wao. Magaathagwo nĩ andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru rũciinĩ; ciimba ciao ikaabuthĩra mbĩrĩra-inĩ, irĩ kũraihu na nyũmba ciao nene. (Sheol )
15 But God will redeem my life from Sheol, for He will surely take me to Himself. (Sheol )
No Ngai nĩagakũũra muoyo wakwa kuuma mbĩrĩra-inĩ; ti-itherũ nĩwe ũkaanyamũkĩra. (Sheol )
16 Do not be amazed when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increases.
Ndũkanetigĩre mũndũ rĩrĩa aatuĩka gĩtonga, rĩrĩa riiri wa nyũmba yake wongerereka;
17 For when he dies, he will carry nothing away; his abundance will not follow him down.
nĩgũkorwo ndarĩ kĩndũ agaathiĩ nakĩo akua, riiri wake ndagaikũrũka naguo.
18 Though in his lifetime he blesses his soul— and men praise you when you prosper—
O na gũtuĩka rĩrĩa aarĩ muoyo eyoonaga arĩ mũrathime, nĩgũkorwo andũ nĩmagũkumagia rĩrĩa wagaacĩra,
19 he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of day.
agakua athiĩ kũrĩ maithe mao, acio matagacooka kuona ũtheri rĩngĩ.
20 A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish.
Mũndũ mũtongu ũtarĩ na ũmenyo atariĩ o ta nyamũ iria ikuuaga igathira.
