< Proverbs 24 >

1 Do not envy wicked men or desire their company;
Má ṣe ṣe ìlara àwọn ènìyàn búburú má ṣe jẹ́ kí àwùjọ wọn wù ọ́;
2 for their hearts devise violence, and their lips declare trouble.
nítorí ọkàn wọn ń gbèrò ohun búburú, ètè wọn sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ nípa dídá rúgúdù sílẹ̀.
3 By wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established;
Nípa ọgbọ́n ni ilé di kíkọ́ nípa òye sì ni ó ti fìdímúlẹ̀;
4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure.
nípa ìmọ̀ ni àwọn yàrá rẹ̀ kún pẹ̀lú àwọn ohun ọ̀ṣọ́ tí ó lẹ́wà tí ó sì ṣọ̀wọ́n.
5 A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge enhances his strength.
Ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn ní agbára púpọ̀, ènìyàn tí ó ní ìmọ̀ sì ń ní agbára sí i.
6 Only with sound guidance should you wage war, and victory lies in a multitude of counselors.
Láti jagun, ó nílò ìtọ́sọ́nà: nínú ìṣẹ́gun ni ọ̀pọ̀ onígbìmọ̀.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool; he does not open his mouth in the meeting place.
Ọgbọ́n ga ju fún aṣiwèrè àti gbọ̀ngàn ìlú níbi ibodè kò ní ohun tí yóò wí.
8 He who plots evil will be called a schemer.
Ẹni tí ń pète ibi ni a ó mọ̀ bí ènìyàn ibi.
9 A foolish scheme is sin, and a mocker is detestable to men.
Ète òmùgọ̀ ènìyàn jẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn sì kórìíra ẹlẹ́gàn.
10 If you faint in the day of distress, how small is your strength!
Bí ìwọ bá dákú lásìkò ìdààmú báwo ni agbára rẹ ha ti kéré tó!
11 Rescue those being led away to death, and restrain those stumbling toward the slaughter.
Gba àwọn tí a ń wọ́ lọ sí ibi ikú là; fa àwọn tó ń ta gbọ̀nọ́ngbọ̀nọ́n lọ sí ibi ìparun padà.
12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know about this,” does not He who weighs hearts consider it? Does not the One who guards your life know? Will He not repay a man according to his deeds?
Bí ìwọ bá wí pé, “Ṣùgbọ́n a kò mọ nǹkan kan nípa èyí,” ǹjẹ́ ẹni tí ń díwọ̀n ọkàn kò kíyèsi i? Ǹjẹ́ ẹni tí ń ṣọ́ ẹ̀mí rẹ kò mọ̀ ọ́n? Ǹjẹ́ kò ní san án fún ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan gẹ́gẹ́ bí ohun tí ó ti ṣe?
13 Eat honey, my son, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your taste.
Jẹ oyin, ìwọ ọmọ mi, nítorí tí ó dára, oyin láti inú afárá oyin dùn lẹ́nu.
14 Know therefore that wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, there is a future for you, and your hope will never be cut off.
Mọ̀ pẹ̀lú pé ọgbọ́n pẹ̀lú dùn fún ọkàn rẹ bí ìwọ bá rí i ìrètí ọjọ́ iwájú wà fún ọ ìrètí rẹ kì yóò sì já ṣófo.
15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, near the dwelling of the righteous; do not destroy his resting place.
Má ṣe ba ní ibùba bí ènìyàn búburú láti gba ibùjókòó olódodo, má ṣe fi ibi ìsinmi rẹ̀ ṣe ìjẹ;
16 For though a righteous man may fall seven times, he still gets up; but the wicked stumble in bad times.
nítorí bí olódodo ènìyàn bá tilẹ̀ ṣubú ní ìgbà méje, yóò tún padà dìde sá á ni, ṣùgbọ́n ìdààmú yóò fa ènìyàn búburú lulẹ̀.
17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart rejoice when he stumbles,
Má ṣe yọ̀ nígbà tí ọ̀tá rẹ bá ṣubú; nígbà tí ó bá kọsẹ̀, má ṣe jẹ́ kí ọkàn rẹ kí ó yọ̀.
18 or the LORD will see and disapprove, and turn His wrath away from him.
Àìṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ Olúwa yóò rí i yóò sì bínú yóò sì yí ìbínú rẹ̀ padà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
19 Do not fret over evildoers, and do not be envious of the wicked.
Má ṣe fòyà nítorí àwọn ènìyàn ibi tàbí jowú àwọn ènìyàn búburú,
20 For the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished.
nítorí ẹni ibi kò ní ìrètí ọjọ́ iwájú a ó sì pa fìtílà àwọn ènìyàn búburú kú.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not associate with the rebellious.
Bẹ̀rù Olúwa àti ọba, ọmọ mi, má sì ṣe darapọ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn olórí kunkun.
22 For they will bring sudden destruction. Who knows what ruin they can bring?
Nítorí àwọn méjèèjì yóò rán ìparun òjijì sórí wọn, ta ni ó sì mọ irú ìyọnu tí wọ́n lè mú wá?
23 These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.
Àwọn wọ̀nyí pẹ̀lú tún jẹ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ọlọ́gbọ́n: láti ṣe ojúsàájú níbi ìdájọ́ kò dára rárá.
24 Whoever tells the guilty, “You are innocent”— peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce him;
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó wí fún ẹlẹ́bi pé, “Ìwọ lo jàre,” àwọn ènìyàn yóò ṣẹ́ èpè fún un àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè yóò sì kọ̀ ọ́.
25 but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come upon them.
Ṣùgbọ́n yóò dára fún àwọn tí ń dá ẹlẹ́bi lẹ́bi, ọ̀pọ̀ ìbùkún yóò sì wá sórí wọn.
26 An honest answer given is like a kiss on the lips.
Ìdáhùn òtítọ́ dàbí ìfẹnukoni ní ẹnu.
27 Complete your outdoor work and prepare your field; after that, you may build your house.
Parí gbogbo iṣẹ́ ajé rẹ sì rí i pé oko rẹ ti ṣe dáradára; lẹ́yìn náà kọ́ ilé rẹ.
28 Do not testify against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips.
Má ṣe rojọ́ èké mọ́ aládùúgbò rẹ láìnídìí, tàbí kí o fi ètè rẹ tannijẹ.
29 Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”
Má ṣe wí pé, “Èmi yóò ṣe é fún un gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe fún mi; Èmi yóò san ohun tí ó ṣe fún mi padà fún un.”
30 I went past the field of a slacker and by the vineyard of a man lacking judgment.
Mo kọjá níbi oko ọ̀lẹ, mo kọjá níbi ọgbà àjàrà aláìgbọ́n ènìyàn;
31 Thorns had grown up everywhere, thistles had covered the ground, and the stone wall was broken down.
ẹ̀gún ti hù ní ibi gbogbo, koríko ti gba gbogbo oko náà.
32 I observed and took it to heart; I looked and received instruction:
Mo fi ọkàn mi sí nǹkan tí mo kíyèsi mo sì kẹ́kọ̀ọ́ lára ohun tí mo rí;
33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,
oorun díẹ̀, òògbé díẹ̀, ìkáwọ́gbera díẹ̀ láti sinmi,
34 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and need like a bandit.
