1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.
Yotamu anakhala mfumu ali ndi zaka 25 ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu kwa zaka 16. Dzina la amayi ake linali Yerusa mwana wa Zadoki.
2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done. In addition, he did not enter the temple of the LORD. But the people still behaved corruptly.
Iye anachita zolungama pamaso pa Yehova, monga anachitira Uziya abambo ake, kupatula kuti iyeyo sanalowe mʼNyumba ya Yehova. Komabe anthu anapitirira kuchita zoyipa.
3 Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD, and he worked extensively on the wall at the hill of Ophel.
Yotamu anamanganso chipata chakumtunda cha Nyumba ya Yehova ndipo anagwira ntchito yayikulu yomanga khoma la ku phiri la Ofeli.
4 He also built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.
Iye anamanga mizinda mʼmapiri a ku Yuda ndipo anamanganso malinga ndi nsanja mʼmadera a ku nkhalango.
5 Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them, and that year they gave him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley. They paid him the same in the second and third years.
Yotamu anachita nkhondo ndi mfumu ya Aamoni ndipo anawagonjetsa. Chaka chimenecho Aamoni anapereka makilogalamu 3,400, matani 1,000 a tirigu ndiponso matani 1,000 a barele. Aamoni anabweretsa zinthu zomwezi chaka chachiwiri ndi chachitatu.
6 So Jotham grew powerful because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.
Yotamu anakula mphamvu chifukwa anayenda molungama pamaso pa Yehova Mulungu wake.
7 As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with all his wars and his ways, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
Zina ndi zina zokhudza ulamuliro wa Yotamu, kuphatikizapo nkhondo zake zonse ndi zinthu zina zimene anachita, zinalembedwa mʼbuku la mafumu a Israeli ndi Yuda.

9 And Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son Ahaz reigned in his place.
Yotamu anamwalira ndipo anayikidwa mʼmanda mu Mzinda wa Davide. Ndipo Ahazi mwana wake analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
