1 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah,

2 and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.
ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu zaka zitatu. Amayi ake anali Maaka, mwana wa Abisalomu.
3 And Abijam walked in all the sins that his father before him had committed, and his heart was not as fully devoted to the LORD his God as the heart of David his forefather had been.
Abiya anachita zoyipa zonse zimene abambo ake anazichita. Sanali wangwiro pamaso pa Yehova Mulungu wake, monga linachitira kholo lake Davide.
4 Nevertheless, for the sake of David, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and to make Jerusalem strong.
Komabe chifukwa cha Davide, Yehova Mulungu wake anamupatsa nyale mu Yerusalemu pomupatsa mwana wolowa mʼmalo mwake ndi kumukhazikitsa kukhala wamphamvu mu Yerusalemu;
5 For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
pakuti Davide anachita zolungama pamaso pa Yehova ndipo sanalephere kusunga chilichonse chimene Yehova anamulamula masiku onse a moyo wake kupatula nkhani ija ya Uriya Mhiti.
6 And there was war between the houses of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of Abijam’s life.
Panali nkhondo pakati pa Rehobowamu ndi Yeroboamu masiku onse a moyo wa Abiya.
7 As for the rest of the acts of Abijam, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8 And Abijam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa reigned in his place.
Ndipo Abiya anamwalira nayikidwa mʼmanda momwe anayikidwa makolo ake mu Mzinda wa Davide. Ndipo Asa, mwana wake analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Asa became king of Judah,
10 and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.
ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu kwa zaka 41. Agogo ake akazi anali Maaka mwana wa Abisalomu.
11 And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done.
Asa anachita zolungama pamaso pa Yehova monga anachitira Davide kholo lake.
12 He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
Iye anachotsa mʼdzikomo amuna onse ochita zadama pochita chipembedzo chawo ndiponso anachotsa mafano onse amene makolo ake anawapanga.
13 He also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole and burned it in the Kidron Valley.
Iye anachotsanso gogo wake Maaka pa udindo wake wa amayi a mfumu, chifukwa choti anapanga fano lonyansa la Asera. Asa anagwetsa fanolo nakalitentha ku Chigwa cha Kidroni.
14 The high places were not removed, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted to the LORD all his days.
Ngakhale sanachotse malo opembedzerapo mafano, mtima wa Asa unali wodzipereka kwathunthu kwa Yehova masiku onse a moyo wake.
15 And he brought into the house of the LORD the silver and gold and other articles that he and his father had dedicated.
Asa anabweretsa ku Nyumba ya Yehova zinthu zimene abambo ake anazipereka, ndiponso zinthu zimene iye mwini anazipereka: zagolide, siliva ndi ziwiya zotengera.
16 Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.
Panali nkhondo pakati pa Asa ndi Baasa mfumu ya Israeli nthawi yonse ya ulamuliro wawo.
17 Baasha king of Israel went to war against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.
18 So Asa withdrew all the silver and gold that remained in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace. He entrusted it to his servants and sent them with this message to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:
Tsono Asa anatenga siliva yense pamodzi ndi golide zimene zinatsala ku malo osungira chuma cha ku Nyumba ya Yehova ndiponso ku nyumba yake yaufumu. Anazipereka kwa atumiki ake, nawatuma kupita nazo kwa Beni-Hadadi mwana wa Tabirimoni, mwana wa Heziyoni, mfumu ya Aramu, amene ankakhala ku Damasiko ndipo anakamuwuza kuti,
19 “Let there be a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
“Tiyeni tigwirizane inu ndi ine, monga panali mgwirizano pakati pa abambo anu ndi abambo anga. Onani, ndikukutumizirani mphatso za siliva ndi golide. Tsopano kathetseni mgwirizano wanu ndi Baasa mfumu ya Israeli kuti andisiye.”
20 And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and the whole land of Naphtali, including the region of Chinnereth.
Choncho Beni-Hadadi anamvera zimene ananena mfumu Asa ndipo anatumiza olamulira magulu ake ankhondo ku mizinda ya Israeli. Ndipo iye anagonjetsa Iyoni, Dani, Abeli-Beti-Maaka ndi dera lonse la Kinereti kuphatikiza dziko lonse la Nafutali.
21 When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah.
Baasa atamva zimenezi, anasiya kumangira linga Rama ndipo anakakhala ku Tiriza.
22 Then King Asa summoned all the men of Judah, with no exceptions, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had used for building. And with these materials King Asa built up Geba of Benjamin, as well as Mizpah.
Pamenepo Mfumu Asa analamula anthu onse a ku Yuda osasiya ndi mmodzi yemwe, ndipo anachotsa ku Rama miyala ndi matabwa amene Baasa ankamangira kumeneko. Zipangizo zimenezi Mfumu Asa inamangira linga la Geba ku Benjamini ndi la ku Mizipa.
23 Now the rest of the acts of Asa, along with all his might, all his accomplishments, and the cities he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he became diseased in his feet.
Tsono ntchito zina za Asa, za mphamvu zake ndi mizinda imene anayimanga ndi zina zonse zimene anachita, kodi sizinalembedwe mʼbuku la mbiri ya mafumu a Yuda? Koma pa nthawi ya ukalamba wake anadwala nthenda ya mapazi.
24 And Asa rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of his father David, and his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place.
Ndipo Asa anamwalira nayikidwa mʼmanda momwe anayikidwa makolo ake mu mzinda wa Davide kholo lake. Ndipo Yehosafati mwana wake analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
25 In the second year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel, and he reigned two years.
26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
Nadabu anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova, anayenda mʼnjira za abambo ake ndi mu uchimo womwe anachimwitsa nawo Israeli.
27 Then Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines while Nadab and all Israel were besieging the city.
Baasa mwana wa Ahiya, wa banja la Isakara anakonzera Nadabuyo chiwembu, ndipo anamukantha ku Gibetoni, mzinda wa Afilisti, pamene Nadabu ndi anthu onse a ku Israeli anali atawuzungulira.
28 In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha killed Nadab and reigned in his place.
Baasa anapha Nadabu mʼchaka chachitatu cha Asa, mfumu ya ku Yuda ndipo analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
29 As soon as Baasha became king, he struck down the entire household of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all according to the word that the LORD had spoken through His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,
Iye atangoyamba kulamulira, anapha anthu onse a banja la Yeroboamu. Sanasiye ndi mmodzi yemwe wamoyo pa banjapo, koma anawononga anthu onse, molingana ndi mawu a Yehova amene anayankhula mwa mtumiki wake Ahiya wa ku Silo
30 because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he had provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.
31 As for the rest of the acts of Nadab, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.
Panali nkhondo pakati pa Asa ndi Baasa mfumu ya Israeli pa nthawi yonse ya ulamuliro wawo.
33 In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah twenty-four years.
34 And Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
Anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova, nayenda mʼnjira za Yeroboamu ndi kuchita tchimo lake limene linachimwitsa anthu a ku Israeli.
