< Proverbs 8 >

1 Does not wisdom cry out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
Ogummaan hin iyyuu? Hubannaanis sagalee isaa ol hin fudhatuu?
2 On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.
Isheen qarqara karaa, lafa ol kaʼaa irra, iddoo daandiin itti wal gaʼu dhaabatti;
3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:
karra magaalaatti nama galchu bira, balbala dura dhaabattee akkana jettee iyyiti:
4 “I call to you men! I send my voice to the sons of mankind.
“Yaa namoota, ani iyyeen isin waama; ani ilmaan namaa hundatti sagalee koo ol nan fudhadha.
5 You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart!
Isin warri homaa hin beekne, qalbii horadhaa; isin warri gowwaan hubannaa argadhaa.
6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things.
Ani waan faayidaa qabu nan dubbadhaatii, dhagaʼaa; waan qajeelaa dubbachuufis afaan koo nan banadha.
7 For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
Afaan koo dhugaa dubbata; arrabni koo hammina jibbaatii.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.
Dubbiin afaan koo hundinuu qajeelaa dha; dubbii koo keessaa tokko iyyuu jalʼaa yookaan micciiramaa miti.
9 They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge.
Nama waa hubatuuf dubbiin koo hundinuu qajeelaa dha; warra beekumsa qabuufis hirʼina hin qabu.
10 Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold.
Qooda meetii gorsa koo, warqee qulqulluu caalaas beekumsa filadhu;
11 For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired cannot be compared to it.
ogummaan lula diimaa caalaa gatii guddaa qabdii; wanni ati hawwitu tokko iyyuu isheedhaan wal hin madaalu.
12 “I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion.
“Ani ogummaan, qalbii wajjin nan jiraadha; ani beekumsaa fi hubannaa qaba.
13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.
Waaqayyoon sodaachuun jibbuu dha; hammina ani of tuulummaa fi of guddisuu, amala hamaa fi haasaa jalʼaa nan jibba.
14 Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.
Gorsaa fi murtiin dhugaa kan koo ti; ani hubannaa fi humna qaba.
15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
Mootonni anaan moʼu; bulchitoonnis anaan seera qajeelaa baasu.
16 By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.
Ilmaan moototaa anaan bulchu; namoonni bebeekamoon hundis anaan biyya bulchu.
17 I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.
Ani warra na jaallatan nan jaalladha; warri na barbaadanis na argatu.
18 With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.
Soorumnii fi ulfinni, qabeenyii fi badhaadhummaan dhuma hin qabne harkuma koo jiru.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver.
Iji koo warqee qulqulluu caala; buʼaan narraa argamus meetii filatamaa caala.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice,
Ani karaa qajeelummaa irra, daandii qajeelaa irras nan deema;
21 that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.
warra na jaallatutti qabeenya nan dhangalaasa; mankuusa qabeenya isaanii illee nan guuta.
22 “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.
“Waaqayyo waan bara durii hojjeteen dura, hojii isaa kan jalqabaatiin dura na aanfate;
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.
ani utuu addunyaan hin uumamin dura, jalqabumatti, bara hamma hin qabneen dura nan muudame.
24 When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water.
Ani utuu tuujubni hin jiraatin, utuu burqaawwan bishaaniin hin guutamin dhaladhe;
25 Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born;
utuu tulluuwwan iddoo isaanii hin dhaabamin dura, ani gaarraniin dura nan dhaladhe;
26 while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.
utuu inni lafa yookaan dirree ishee yookaan biyyoo addunyaa tokko iyyuu hin uumin dura nan dhaladhe.
27 When he established the heavens, I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the deep,
Yeroo inni samiiwwan hundeessetti, yeroo inni dhidhima irra muummee kaaʼetti ani achin ture;
28 when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong,
yeroo inni gubbaatti duumessa jabeessee dhaabee madda tuujubaa illee hundeessetti ani achin ture;
29 when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
yeroo inni akka bishaanonni ajaja isaa hin cabsineef jedhee, galaanaaf daangaa dhaabetti, yeroo inni lafa hundeessetti ani achin ture.
30 then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,
Yeroo sanatti ani ogeessa hojii harkaa taʼee isa biran ture. Ani yeroo hunda fuula isaa dura burraaqaa, guyyuma guyyaadhaan gammachuudhaan guutamaan ture;
31 rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.
ani guutummaa addunyaa isaa keessatti ililchaa, ilmaan namaatti illee gammadaan ture.
32 “Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.
“Eegaa yaa ilmaan ko, mee na dhagaʼaa; warri karaa koo eegan eebbifamoo dha.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise. Do not refuse it.
Gorsa koo dhaggeeffadhaatii ogeeyyii taʼaa; isa hin tuffatinaa.
34 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.
Namni na dhagaʼu, kan guyyaa hunda balbala koo eegu, kan karra koo dura turu eebbifamaa dha.
35 For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.
Namni na argatu kam iyyuu jireenya argata; Waaqayyo biratti illee fudhatama argata.
36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”
Namni na hin arganne garuu ofuma miidha; namni na jibbu hundinuu duʼa jaallata.”
