< Proverbs 9 >
1 Wisdom has built her house. She has hewn out her seven pillars.
Ogummaan mana ishee ijaarratte; utubaa ishee torbanis dhagaa irraa qopheeffate.
2 She has killed her beasts. She has mingled her wine. She has also furnished her table.
Isheen horii qalattee daadhii wayinii ishee bulbulatte; maaddii ishee illee qopheeffatte.
3 She has sent forth her maidens. She cries out upon the highest places of the city:
Tajaajiltoota ishee dubarran ergattee fiixee magaalaa irraa lallabde.
4 He who is simple, let him turn in here. As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,
Isheen warra qalbii hin qabneen akkana jetti; “Isin warri homaa hin beekne hundi as kottaa!
5 Come, eat ye of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
Kottaatii nyaata koo nyaadhaa; daadhii wayinii ani bulbuladhe illee dhugaa.
6 Forsake ye simpleness, and live, and walk in the way of understanding.
Karaa gowwummaa keessanii sana dhiisaatii jiraadhaa; karaa hubannaa irra deemaa.
7 He who corrects a scoffer gets himself reviling. And he who reproves a wicked man gets himself a bruise.
“Namni nama namatti qoosu gorsu kam iyyuu ni arrabsama; namni nama hamaa ifatu kam iyyuu ni salphata.
8 Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate thee. Reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.
Ati nama namatti qoosu hin ifatin; inni si jibbaatii; nama ogeessa ifadhu; inni si jaallataatii.
9 Give opportunity to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
Nama ogeessa gorsi; inni ittuma caalchisee ogeessa taʼaa; nama qajeelaaf barumsa kenni; inni beekumsa isaatti dabalaatii.
10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.
“Waaqayyoon sodaachuun jalqaba ogummaa ti; isa Qulqulluu Sana beekuun hubannaa dha.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
Karaa kootiin barii jireenya keetii ni dheerata; jireenya kee irrattis waggoonni ni dabalamuutii.
12 If thou are wise, thou are wise for thyself. And if thou scoff, thou alone shall bear it.
Yoo ati nama ogeessa taate, ogummaan kee si badhaasa; yoo ati kan namatti qoostu taate suma qofatu gidirama.”
13 The foolish woman is clamorous, simple, and knows nothing.
Dubartiin gowwaan oduu baayʼifti; isheen raatuu homaa hin beeknee dha.
14 And she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
Isheen balbala mana ishee dura, fiixee magaalaa gubbaa barcuma irra teessee
15 to call to those who pass by, who go right on their ways:
warra achiin darban, kanneen qajeelanii daandii isaanii irra deeman waamti.
16 He who is simple, let him turn in here. And as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,
Isheen warra qalbii hin qabneen akkana jetti. “Isin warri homaa hin beekne hundi as kottaa!
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread in secret is pleasant.
Bishaan hatan ni miʼaawa; nyaanni dhoksaan nyaatanis guddoo namatti tola!”
18 But he knows not that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol. (Sheol )
Isaan garuu akka warri duʼan achi jiran, akka keessumoonni ishee dhidhima awwaalaa keessa jiran illee xinnuma beeku. (Sheol )
