Jeremia 14
1 Het woord des HEEREN, dat tot Jeremia geschied is, over de zaken der grote droogte.
Which it came [the] word of Yahweh to Jeremiah on [the] matters of the droughts.
2 Juda treurt en haar poorten zijn verzwakt; zij zijn in het zwart gekleed ter aarde toe, en Jeruzalems geschrei klimt op.
It is in mourning Judah and gates its they are languishing they are in mourning to the earth and [the] outcry of Jerusalem it has gone up.
3 En hun voortreffelijken zenden hun kleinen naar water; zij komen tot de grachten, zij vinden geen water, zij komen met hun vaten ledig weder; zij zijn beschaamd, ja, worden schaamrood, en bedekken hun hoofd.
And noble [ones] their they have sent (servants their *Q(K)*) for water they have come to [the] cisterns not they have found water they have returned vessels their empty they are ashamed and they are humiliated and they have covered head their.
4 Omdat het aardrijk gescheurd is, dewijl er geen regen op de aarde is; de akkerlieden zijn beschaamd, zij bedekken hun hoofd.
For sake of the ground [which] it is cracked for not it has come rain in the land they are ashamed farmers they have covered head their.
5 Want ook de hinden in het veld werpen jongen, en verlaten die, omdat er geen jong gras is.
For also a doe in the field it has given birth and it has abandoned for not it is grass.
6 En de woudezels staan op de hoge plaatsen, zij scheppen den wind gelijk de draken; hun ogen versmachten, omdat er geen kruid is.
And wild donkeys they have stood on [the] bare heights they have panted for breath like jackals they have failed eyes their for there not [is] vegetation.
7 Hoewel onze ongerechtigheden tegen ons getuigen, o HEERE! doe het om Uws Naams wil; want onze afkeringen zijn menigvuldig, wij hebben tegen U gezondigd.
Though iniquities our they have testified against us O Yahweh act for [the] sake of name your for they are many apostasies our to you we have sinned.
8 O Israels Verwachting, Zijn Verlosser in tijd van benauwdheid! waarom zoudt Gij zijn als een vreemdeling in het land, en als een reiziger, die slechts inkeert om te vernachten?
O hope of Israel deliverer its in a time of distress why? are you like a sojourner in the land and like a traveler [who] he has turned aside to spend [the] night.
9 Waarom zoudt Gij zijn als een versaagd man, als een held, die niet kan verlossen? Gij zijt toch in het midden van ons, o HEERE! en wij zijn naar Uw Naam genoemd, verlaat ons niet.
Why? are you like a person astounded like a warrior [who] not he is able to save and you [are] in midst our O Yahweh and name your on us it is called may not you abandon us.
10 Alzo zegt de HEERE van dit volk: Zij hebben zo liefgehad te zwerven, zij hebben hun voeten niet bedwongen; daarom heeft de HEERE geen welgevallen aan hen, nu zal Hij hunner ongerechtigheden gedenken, en hun zonden bezoeken.
Thus he says Yahweh of the people this thus they have loved to wander feet their not they have restrained and Yahweh not he has accepted them now he will remember iniquity their so he may punish sins their.
11 Wijders zeide de HEERE tot mij: Bid niet voor dit volk ten goede.
And he said Yahweh to me may not you pray for the people this for good.
12 Ofschoon zij vasten, Ik zal naar hun geschrei niet horen, en ofschoon zij brandoffer en spijsoffer offeren, Ik zal aan hen geen welgevallen hebben; maar door het zwaard, en door den honger, en door de pestilentie zal Ik hen verteren.
For they will fast not I [will be] listening to cry of entreaty their even if they will offer up a burnt offering and a grain offering not I [will be] accepting them for by the sword and by famine and by pestilence I [will be] bringing to an end them.
13 Toen zeide ik: Ach, Heere HEERE! zie, die profeten zeggen hun: Gij zult geen zwaard zien, en gij zult geen honger hebben; maar Ik zal u een gewissen vrede geven in deze plaats.
And I said alas! - O Lord Yahweh here! the prophets [are] saying to them not you will see sword and famine not it will happen to you for peace of reliability I will give to you in the place this.
14 En de HEERE zeide tot mij: Die profeten profeteren vals in Mijn Naam; Ik heb hen niet gezonden, noch hun bevel gegeven, noch tot hen gesproken; zij profeteren ulieden een vals gezicht, en waarzegging, en nietigheid, en bedriegerij huns harten.
And he said Yahweh to me falsehood the prophets [are] prophesying in name my not I sent them and not I appointed them and not I spoke to them a vision of falsehood and divination (and an idol *Q(K)*) (and [the] deceitfulness of *Q(k)*) own heart their they [are] prophesying to you.
15 Daarom zegt de HEERE alzo: Aangaande de profeten, die in Mijn Naam profeteren, daar Ik hen niet gezonden heb, en zij dan nog zeggen: Er zal geen zwaard noch honger in dit land zijn; diezelve profeten zullen door het zwaard en door den honger verteerd worden.
Therefore thus he says Yahweh on the prophets who are prophesying in name my and I not I sent them and they [are] saying sword and famine not it will happen in the land this by the sword and by famine they will meet their end the prophets those.
16 En het volk, tot hetwelk zij profeteren, zullen op de straten van Jeruzalem weggeworpen zijn vanwege den honger en het zwaard; en er zal niemand zijn, die hen begrave, hen, hun vrouwen, en hun zonen, en hun dochteren; alzo zal Ik hun boosheid over hen uitstorten.
And the people whom they [are] prophesying to them they will be thrown out in [the] streets of Jerusalem because of - the famine and the sword and not a burier [will belong] to them them wives their and sons their and daughters their and I will pour out on them wickedness their.
17 Daarom zult gij dit woord tot hen zeggen: Mijn ogen zullen van tranen nederdalen nacht en dag, en niet ophouden; want de jonkvrouw der dochter Mijns volks is gebroken met een grote breuk, een plage, die zeer smartelijk is.
And you will speak to them the word this let them run down eyes my tear[s] night and by day and may not they cease for a breaking great she has been broken [the] virgin of [the] daughter of people my a wound made sick very.
18 Zo ik uitga in het veld, ziet daar de verslagenen van het zwaard, en zo ik in de stad komen, ziet daar de kranken van honger! Ja, zowel de profeten als de priesters lopen om in het land, en weten niet.
If I went out the field and there! [those] slain of a sword and if I went the city and there! diseases of famine for both prophet as well as priest they have gone about to a land and not they know.
19 Hebt Gij dan Juda ganselijk verworpen? Heeft Uw ziel een walging aan Sion? Waarom hebt Gij ons geslagen, dat er geen genezing voor ons is? Men wacht naar vrede, maar daar is niets goeds, en naar tijd van genezing, maar ziet, daar is verschrikking.
¿ Really have you rejected Judah or? Zion does it abhor self your why? have you struck us and not [belongs] to us healing we waited eagerly for peace and there not [was] good and for a time of healing and there! terror.
20 HEERE! wij kennen onze goddeloosheid, en onzer vaderen ongerechtigheid, want wij hebben tegen U gezondigd.
We know O Yahweh wickedness our [the] iniquity of ancestors our for we have sinned to you.
21 Versmaad ons niet, om Uws Naams wil; werp den troon Uwer heerlijkheid niet neder; gedenk, vernietig niet Uw verbond met ons.
May not you spurn for [the] sake of name your may not you treat with contempt [the] throne of glory your remember may not you break covenant your with us.
22 Zijn er onder de ijdelheden der heidenen, die doen regenen, of kan de hemel druppelen geven? Zijt Gij die niet, o HEERE, onze God? Daarom zullen wij op U wachten, want Gij doet al die dingen.
¿ [are] there Among [the] vanities of the nations [those who] send rain and or? the heavens do they give copious showers ¿ not you [is] it O Yahweh God our so we may wait eagerly for you for you you have done all these [things].
