Genesis 25
1 Abraham had nog een andere vrouw genomen, Ketoera geheten.
And he repeated Abraham and he took a wife and name her [was] Keturah.
2 Zij baarde hem Zimran, Joksjan, Medan, Midjan, Jisjbak en Sjóeach.
And she bore to him Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah.
3 Joksjan verwekte Sjeba en Dedan. De zonen van Dedan waren de Assjoerieten, de Letoesjieten en de Leoemmieten.
And Jokshan he fathered Sheba and Dedan and [the] sons of Dedan they were Asshurites and Letushites and Leummites.
4 De zonen van Midjan waren Efa, Efer, Chanok, Abida en Eldaä. Dat waren allen nakomelingen van Ketoera.
And [the] sons of Midian [were] Ephah and Epher and Hanoch and Abida and Eldaah all these [were] [the] sons of Keturah.
5 Abraham gaf alles, wat hij bezat aan Isaäk.
And he gave Abraham all that [belonged] to him to Isaac.
6 Aan de zonen van zijn bijvrouwen gaf Abraham geschenken, en zond ze nog tijdens zijn leven weg, uit de omgeving van zijn zoon Isaäk naar de overkant, het land van het oosten.
And to [the] sons of the concubines who [belonged] to Abraham he gave Abraham gifts and he sent away them from with Isaac son his while still [was] he alive east-ward to [the] land of [the] east.
7 Dit is het getal van Abrahams levensjaren; honderd vijf en zeventig jaar.
And these [are] [the] days of [the] years of [the] life of Abraham which he lived one hundred year[s] and seventy year[s] and five years.
8 Op hoge leeftijd is Abraham ontslapen; oud en afgeleefd is hij gestorven, en werd hij bij zijn volk verzameld.
And he expired and he died Abraham in old age good old and satisfied and he was gathered to kinspeople his.
9 Zijn zonen Isaäk en Jisjmaël begroeven hem in de grot van Makpela, die ten oosten van Mamre ligt, op de akker van Efron, den zoon van Sóchar, den Chittiet.
And they buried him Isaac and Ishmael sons his into [the] cave of Machpelah to [the] field of Ephron [the] son of Zohar the Hittite which [is] on [the] face of Mamre.
10 Het was de akker, die Abraham van de Chittieten gekocht had. Daar liggen Abraham en zijn vrouw Sara begraven.
The field which he had acquired Abraham from with [the] sons of Heth there he was buried Abraham and Sarah wife his.
11 Toen Abraham gestorven was, zegende God zijn zoon Isaäk. Isaäk bleef wonen bij de bron van Lachai-Roï.
And it was after [the] death of Abraham and he blessed God Isaac son his and he dwelt Isaac near Beer Lahai Roi.
12 Dit is de geslachtslijst van Jisjmaël, den zoon van Abraham, dien Hagar, de egyptische slavin van Sara, Abraham gebaard heeft.
And these [are] [the] accounts of Ishmael [the] son of Abraham whom she bore Hagar the Egyptian [the] maidservant of Sarah to Abraham.
13 Dit zijn de namen van Jisjmaëls zonen volgens de naam van hun geslacht. De eerstgeborene van Jisjmaël was Nebajot; verder Kedar, Adbeël en Mibsam,
And these [are] [the] names of [the] sons of Ishmael by names their to descendants their [the] firstborn of Ishmael [was] Nebaioth and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam.
14 Misjma, Doema en Massa,
And Mishma and Dumah and Massa.
15 Chadad, Tema, Jetoer, Nafisj en Kédma.
(Hadad *LA(BH)*) and Tema Jetur Naphish and Kedemah.
16 Dit zijn de zonen van Jisjmaël, en dat zijn hun namen naar hun nederzettingen en kampementen: twaalf vorsten overeenkomstig het getal van hun stammen.
These they [were] [the] sons of Ishmael and these [are] names their by villages their and by encampments their two [plus] ten princes to tribes their.
17 De levensjaren van Jisjmaël bedroegen honderd zeven en dertig jaar. Toen ontsliep hij en stierf, en werd bij zijn volk verzameld.
And these [are] [the] years of [the] life of Ishmael one hundred year[s] and thirty year[s] and seven years and he expired and he died and he was gathered to kinspeople his.
18 Hij woonde van Chawila tot Sjoer, dat tegenover Egypte ligt, en tot Assjoer toe, verwijderd van al zijn broeders.
And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur which [is] on [the] face of Egypt going you Asshur towards on [the] face of all relatives his he fell.
19 Dit is de geslachtslijst van Isaäk, den zoon van Abraham. Abraham verwekte Isaäk.
And these [are] [the] accounts of Isaac [the] son of Abraham Abraham he fathered Isaac.
20 Toen Isaäk veertig jaar oud was, huwde hij Rebekka, de dochter van Betoeël, den Arameër van Paddan-Aram, en zuster van den Arameër Laban.
And he was Isaac a son of forty year[s] when took he Rebekah [the] daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram [the] sister of Laban the Aramean for himself to a wife.
21 Omdat zijn vrouw onvruchtbaar bleef, bad Isaäk tot Jahweh voor haar; en Jahweh verhoorde hem, zodat zijn vrouw Rebekka zwanger werd.
And he prayed Isaac to Yahweh to before wife his for [was] barren she and he was entreated by him Yahweh and she conceived Rebekah wife his.
22 Maar toen de kinderen in haar schoot tegen elkaar opdrongen, zeide zij: Als dit zo moet gaan, waarom blijf ik dan in leven! Daarom ging zij Jahweh raadplegen.
And they struggled together the children in inward part[s] her and she said if thus why? this [am] I and she went to consult Yahweh.
23 En Jahweh sprak tot haar: Twee volken draagt gij in uw schoot, Twee naties gaan uiteen van uw moederlijf af. De ene natie zal machtiger zijn dan de andere, De oudste zal de jongste dienen.
And he said Yahweh to her two (nations *Q(k)*) [are] in womb your and two peoples from inward parts your they will separate and a people more than a people it will be strong and [the] great [one] it will serve [the] young [one].
24 Toen het ogenblik was aangebroken, waarop zij moest baren, was er inderdaad een tweeling in haar schoot.
And they were completed days her to give birth and there! twins [were] in womb her.
25 De eerste, die te voorschijn kwam, was rossig en helemaal als in een pels gewikkeld; men noemde hem Esau.
And he came out the first red all of him [was] like a cloak of hair and they called name his Esau.
26 Daarna kwam zijn broertje, die met zijn hand de hiel van Esau vasthield; daarom noemde men hem Jakob. Isaäk was zestig jaar oud, toen hij hen verwekte.
And after thus he came out brother his and hand his [was] holding on [the] heel of Esau and he called name his Jacob and Isaac [was] a son of sixty year[s] when fathered them.
27 Toen de jongens groot waren geworden, werd Esau een behendig jager, een buitenmens; maar Jakob was een rustig man, die in tenten verbleef.
And they grew up the lads and he was Esau a man [who] knew hunting a man of [the] open country and Jacob [was] a man quiet [who] dwelt tents.
28 Isaäk hield van Esau, omdat zijn wild hem smaakte; maar Rebekka beminde Jakob.
And he loved Isaac Esau for wild game [was] in mouth his and Rebekah [was] loving Jacob.
29 Eens was Jakob een gerecht aan het koken, toen Esau moe uit het veld thuiskwam.
And he had cooked Jacob cooked food and he came Esau from the field and he [was] exhausted.
30 En Esau zeide tot Jakob: Laat me eens gauw eten van dat rode kooksel daar; want ik ben uitgeput. Daarom werd hij ook Edom genoemd.
And he said Esau to Jacob let swallow me please some of the red [stew] the red [stew] this for [am] exhausted I there-fore someone called name his Edom.
31 Jakob antwoordde: Verkoop me dan eerst uw eerstgeboorterecht.
And he said Jacob sell! as the day birthright your to me.
32 Esau hernam: Wel, ik ga toch dood; wat heb ik dan aan een eerstgeboorterecht.
And he said Esau here! I [am] going to die and for what? this to me [is] a birthright.
33 Jakob sprak: Zweer het mij eerst! En hij zwoer het hem. Zo verkocht hij aan Jakob zijn eerstgeboorterecht.
And he said Jacob swear! to me as the day and he swore to him and he sold birthright his to Jacob.
34 Toen gaf Jakob aan Esau brood met het linzenmoes. Deze at en dronk, stond op en ging heen. Zo weinig telde Esau het eerstgeboorterecht.
And Jacob he gave to Esau bread and cooked food of lentils and he ate and he drank and he arose and he went and he despised Esau the birthright.
