< Jakobo 4 >
1 Angʼo makelo goruok gi dhawo e kindu? Donge gia kuom gombou makedo matek e chunyu?
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Udwaro ni ubed gi gik moko, to ok uyudgi. Uneko kendo ugombo gige ji, to ok unyal yudo gik mudwarogo. Udhawo kendo ugoru e kindu ngʼato gi ngʼato. Ok uyud gik mudwaro nikech ok ukwa Nyasaye.
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 To kata ka ukwayo Nyasaye, to ok uyud gik mukwayo nikech ukwayo gi paro maricho mondo utimgo dwarou uwegi.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with YHWH? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of YHWH.
5 Koso uparo ni muma wacho kayiem ni chuny Nyasaye moketo mondo odag eiwa nigi nyiego mager.
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 To kata kamano omiyowa ngʼwono maduongʼ moloyo, mano emomiyo Muma wacho niya, “Nyasaye osin gi josunga, to ochiwo ngʼwono ne joma muol.”
But he giveth more favour. Wherefore he saith, YHWH resisteth the proud, but giveth favour unto the humble.
7 Omiyo bolreuru e bwo Loch Nyasaye. Kweduru Satan, eka noringu.
Submit yourselves therefore to YHWH. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Suduru but Nyasaye, eka nosud butu. Luokuru lweteu, un jorichogi, kendo pwodhuru chunyu, un joma nigi paro ariyogi.
Draw nigh to YHWH, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Owinjore ubed gikuyo kendo uywagi, ka ugoyo nduru. Nyiero munyierogo onego olokre ywak, kendo mor mumorgo onego olokre kuyo.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Bolreuru e nyim Ruoth Nyasaye eka obiro otingʼou malo.
Humble yourselves in the sight of YHWH, and he shall lift you up.
11 Owetena, kik uketh nying joweteu.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
En ema onyalo reso kata nego ngʼato. In to in ngʼa mondo ingʼad ni nyawadu bura?
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
13 Chikuru itu mondo uwinja, un joma wacho niya, “Kawuono kata kiny wanadhi e dala ni, kata e dala cha, mondo wadag kuno higa achiel, mondo walok ohala kuno eka walos pesa.”
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Ere kaka uwuoyo kamano to ukia gima kiny notimre. Uparo ni ngimau en angʼo? Ngimau chalo mana ka ongʼwengʼo mineno sa matin kende to bangʼe lal nono.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 Kar wacho kamano to onego uwach mana niya, “Ka Ruoth oyie to wabiro bedo mangima mi watim ma kata macha.”
For that ye ought to say, If YHWH will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 Un to usungoru kendo upakoru!
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
