2 Samuel 8
1 Nogen Tid efter slog David Filisterne og undertvang dem, og David fratog Filisterne Meteg-Ha'amma.
After this now, Dauid smote the Philistims, and subdued them, and Dauid tooke the bridle of bondage out of the hand of the Philistims.
2 Fremdeles slog han Moabiterne, og han målte dem med en Snor, idet han lod dem lægge sig ned på Jorden og afmålte to Snorlængder, der skulde dræbes, og een, der skulde blive i Live. Således blev Moabiterne Davids skatskyldige Undersåtter.
And hee smote Moab, and measured them with a corde, and cast them downe to the ground: he measured them with two cordes to put them to death, and with one full corde to keepe them aliue: so became the Moabites Dauids seruants, and brought giftes.
3 Ligeledes slog David Rehobs Søn, Kong Hadad'ezer af Zoba, da han var draget ud for at genoprette sit Herredømme ved Floden.
Dauid smote also Hadadezer the sonne of Rehob King of Zobah, as he went to recouer his border at the riuer Euphrates.
4 David fratog ham 1700 Ryttere og 20000 Mand Fodfolk og lod alle Stridshestene lamme på hundrede nær, som han skånede.
And Dauid tooke of them a thousand and seuen hundreth horsemen, and twenty thousande footemen, and Dauid destroyed all the charets, but he reserued an hundreth charets of them.
5 Og da Aramæerne fra Damaskus kom Hadad'ezer af Zoba til Hjælp, slog David 22000 Mand af Aramæerne.
Then came the Aramites of Dammesek to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, but Dauid slewe of the Aramites two and twenty thousande men.
6 Derpå indsatte David Fogeder i det damaskenske Aram, og Aramæerne blev Davids skatskyldige Undersåtter. Således, gav HERREN David Sejr, overalt hvor han drog frem.
And Dauid put a garison in Aram of Damesek: and the Aramites became seruants to Dauid, and brought gifts. And the Lord saued Dauid wheresoeuer he went.
7 Og David tog de Guldskjolde, Hadad'ezers Folk havde båret, og bragte dem til Jerusalem;
And Dauid tooke the shieldes of gold that beloged to the seruants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Ierusalem.
8 og fra Hadad'ezers Byer Teba og Berotaj bortførte Kong David Kobber i store Mængder.
And out of Betah, and Berothai (cities of Hadadezer) king Dauid brought exceeding much brasse.
9 Men da Kong To'i af Hamat hørte, at David havde slået hele Hadad'ezers Stridsmagt,
Then Toi king of Hamath heard howe Dauid had smitten all the hoste of Hadadezer,
10 sendte han sin Søn Hadoram til Kong David for at hilse på ham og lykønske ham til, at han havde kæmpet med Hadad'ezer og slået ham - Hadad'ezer havde nemlig ligget i Krig med To'i - og han medbragte Sølv-, Guld- og Kobber-sager.
Therefore Toi sent Ioram his sonne vnto King Dauid, to salute him, and to reioyce with him because he had fought against Hadadezer, and beaten him (for Hadadezer had warre with Toi) who brought with him vessels of siluer, and vessels of golde, and vessels of brasse.
11 Også dem helligede Kong David HERREN tillige med det Sølv og Guld, han havde helliget af Byttet fra alle de undertvungne Folk,
And King Dauid did dedicate them vnto the Lord with the siluer and golde that he had dedicate of all the nations, which he had subdued:
12 Edom, Moab Ammoniterne, Filisterne, Amalek, og af det Bytte, han havde taget fra Rehobs Søn, Kong Hadad'ezer af Zoba.
Of Aram, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistims, and of Amalek, and of the spoyle of Hadadezer ye sonne of Rehob King of Zobah.
13 Og David vandt sig et Navn. Da han vendte tilbage fra Sejren over Aram, slog han Edom i Saltdalen, 18000 Mand;
So Dauid gate a name after that hee returned, and had slayne of the Aramites in the valley of salt eighteene thousand men.
14 derpå indsatte han Fogeder i Edom; i hele Edom indsatte han Fogeder, og alle Edomiterne blev Davids Undersåtter, Således gav HERREN David Sejr, overalt hvor han drog frem.
And he put a garison in Edom: throughout all Edom put he souldiers, and all they of Edom became Dauids seruants: and the Lord kept Dauid whithersoeuer he went.
15 Og David var Konge over hele Israel, og han øvede Ret og Retfærdighed mod hele sit Folk.
Thus Dauid reigned ouer all Israel, and executed iudgement and iustice vnto all his people.
16 Joab, Zerujas Søn, var sat over Hæren; Josjafat, Ahiluds Søn, var Kansler;
And Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah was ouer the hoste, and Ioshaphat the sonne of Ahilud was recorder.
17 Zadok, Abitubs Søn, og Ebjatar, Ahimeleks Søn, var Præster; Seraja var Statsskriver;
And Zadok the sonne of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the sonne of Abiathar were the Priestes, and Seraiah the Scribe.
18 Benaja, Jojadas Søn, var sat over Kreterne og Pleterne, og Davids Sønner var Præster.
And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and Dauids sonnes were chiefe rulers.
