箴言 19
1 窮而行為正直，勝於富而唇舌欺詐。
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 熱誠無謀，誠不可取；步伐匆忙，難免失足。
Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3 人因愚蠢自毀前途；他的心反遷怒上主。
The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against Yhwh.
4 財富招來許多朋友，窮人卻為親朋所棄。
Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5 作假見證的人，難免受罰；撒播謊言的人，勢必難逃。
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6 大方的人，人人奉承；好施的人，人都諂媚。
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7 人窮兄弟恨，朋友更遠離；誰追求空言，是捕風捉影。
All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8 獲得明哲的，必愛惜自己；珍惜明智的，必覓得幸福。
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 作假見證的人，難免受罰；撒播謊言的人，自趨滅亡。
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10 安逸的生活，不適於愚人；奴隸管君主，更是不相宜。
Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 明智的人，緩於發怒，寬恕愆尤，引以為榮。
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 君主的盛怒，有如獅子的怒吼；君王的恩惠，有如草上的朝露。
The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 愚昧的兒子，是父親的災禍；吵鬧的女人，有如屋頂漏水。
A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 房屋與錢財，是父母的遺產；賢明的妻子，是上主的恩賜。
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from Yhwh.
15 懶慢怠惰，使人沉睡；閒蕩的人，必要挨餓。
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 恪守上主誡命的，可保全生命；輕視上主道路的，必自趨喪亡。
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17 向窮人施捨，是借貸於上主；對他的功德，上主必要報答。
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto Yhwh; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18 尚有希望時，應懲罰兒子；但不可存心置他於死地。
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19 易怒的人，應當受罰：你越寬容，使他越乖戾。
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20 你應聽取勸告，接受教訓，使你今後成個明智的人。
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 人在心中儘可策劃多端，實現的卻是上主的計劃。
There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of Yhwh, that shall stand.
22 慷慨為人有利，窮漢勝過騙子。
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23 敬畏上主，使人得生命，滿懷敬畏，必無殃無禍。
The fear of Yhwh tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 懶惰人伸手到食盤，卻懶於送回到口邊。
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 你若杖責輕狂人，幼稚者將變明智；你只譴責明智者，他即更明瞭義理。
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26 苛待父親，迫走母親的，實是卑賤可恥的兒子。
He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27 我兒，你停止聽取教訓，就是遠離智慧的訓言。
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28 邪曲的見證，戲笑公義；惡人們的嘴，吞食不義。
An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 體刑是為輕狂人而設，鞭笞是為愚人背而備。
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
