< Minbu 21 >
1 Arad Canaan gam lhanglamma lengpa chun Israel mite chun agamkai chu ahin jotpa tauve tithu ajah doh phat in, gal abol khum tan ahile Israel mite phabep songkul atang den tauvin ahi.
And the Canaanite, the king of Arad who dwelt in the South, heard that Israel had entered by the way of Atharim, —so he made war with Israel, and took some of them captive.
2 Chuin Israel miten hitin aseijun Pakai masangah akitom tauvin ahi. Pakai, Pathen nangma in hiche mite hi keima ho khutna neipeh doh ule keihon amaho khopi jaona abonchauva ka suh gam diu ahi, tin asei tau vin ahi.
Then Israel vowed vow unto Yahweh, and said, —If thou wilt, surely deliver up, this people into my hand, then will I utterly destroy their cities.
3 Pakaiyin Israel mite taona chu asan peh tan Canaan mite chunga galjona aneitauvin, khopi jong abonchan ajousoh heltauvin chuleh hiche mun chu Hormah asah taove.
And Yahweh hearkened unto the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanite into his hand, so he utterly destroyed them, and their cities, and called the name of the place Hormah [that is, "Utter Destruction"].
4 Israelte chun hikom muna kon chun tuisan lam ahin jon’un Edom gam ahin jotpa uvin, hinlah Israel mite chun lamsao tah ahin jot phat uvin Mose henga akiphin gam taovin ahi.
Then brake they up from Mount Hor, by way of the Red Sea, to go round the land of Edom, —and the soul of the people became impatient because of the way,
5 Israel mite chu Pathen chule Mose heng nga aki phintauvin, itidan a gamthip lah a Egypt apatna nei hin puidoh mong mong uham ati tauvin ahi. Hilai mun hi don ding jong imacha umlou chule keiho hiche manna jong hi kachim tauve tin aseiyuve.
So then the people spake against God and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt, to die in the desert? for there is neither bread nor water, and our soul, doth loathe this contemptible bread!
6 Hichun Pakajin Israel mite chunga alunghang na ahin bunglhan ahile aneh nauva chun gu ajaovin mi phabep in thina atoh tauvin ahi.
And Yahweh sent among the people the poisonous serpents, and they bit the people, —and much people out of Israel died.
7 Chuin Israel mite Pakai henga ataovun keihon Pakai doumah seijin ka um un ahile gimbolna ka chung uva ahung lhung jeng tan ahi. Nei ngaidam tauvin tin Pakai henga atao un ahi.
Then came the people of Israel unto Moses and said—We have sinned in that we spake against Yahweh and against thee, Pray thou unto Yahweh, that he may take from us the serpent. So Moses prayed for the people.
8 Hichun Pakaiyin Mose hengah hiti hin aseijin gul lim semthu in lang khom phung a dinsah in lang, koi hita jong leh hi che gul ve tapou chu dam doh ding, gul in achuh khah jongle damna anei thei ding ahi.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Make thee a like serpent, and put it upon standard, —and it shall come to pass, that, any one who is bitten, as soon as he seeth it, shall live.
9 Mose’n gul asem thun khom ma akhen beh in, koi hita jong le hiche ve achu gul’in achuh khah na akon damna um jeng ding ahi, tin aseijin ahi.
So Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon the standard, —and it came to pass—that if the serpent had bitten any man, as soon as he directed his look unto the serpent of bronze, he lived.
10 Chu in Israel mite ngahmun lam jon in akitol kittauvin ahi.
And the sons of Israel brake up, —and encamped in Oboth.
11 Chuin amaho Oboth apat in Ije-Abarim mun lam ahoh pauvin gamthip lam Moab sodoh nalam chu ahi.
And they brake up from Oboth, —and encamped in Ije-Abarim, in the desert which is over against Moab, towards the rising of the sun.
12 Ije-Abarim kiti Oboth solam gamthip lah a pat’in aki patdoh un Zared luikhuh a aki chol do tauvin ahi.
From thence, brake they up, —and encamped in the ravine of Zered.
13 Hichun amaho aki pat doh un Arnon vadung gamthip Amor mite chenna gam lam jon in achie kit tauvin, Arnon vadung hi Moab mite le Amor mite gamgi ahiye.
From thence, brake they up, and encamped on the other side of Arnon which is in the desert, that cometh forth out of the boundary of the Amorites, —for, Arnon, is the boundary of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Hijeh chun Pathen lekhabua kimu Pakai galbolna hichu Arnon vadung mun ahi.
For this cause is it said, in the Book of the Wars of Yahweh, — …Waheb with a hurricane, And the ravines of Arnon;
15 Hiche mun chu Arnon gam chule Moab gamgi ahi.
And the bottom of the ravines, that extendeth toward the dwelling of Ar, —And adjoineth to the boundary of Moab,
16 Chuin Arnon gam le Moab gamgi’a pat chun Israel mite Beer jon in akitol tauvin ahi. Hiche muna hi PakaiyinMose hengah thu aseiyin nangho kikoukhom’un keiman nadon diu twi ka peh ding nahiuve tia aseina mun chu ahiye.
And from thence, towards Beer, —the same, is the well whereof Yahweh said unto Moses, Gather together the people, that I may give them water.
17 Hiche muna chun Israel miten Pathen vahchoila asauvin, ama thangvah nan adim uve.
Then, sang Israel this song, —Spring thou up, O well! Respond ye thereunto;
18 Hiche tui umna muna chun lengnu apang hoi ahiuvin, lamkai ho ahin, abonchauvin twikhuh chu alaiyun chu in Mattanah lam jon in ache tauvin ahi.
A well!—princes digged it, Nobles of the people, delved it, With a sceptre, With their staves. And, from the desert, to Mattanah;
19 Mattanah apat’in Nahaliel gam chu ajon un chu in Nahaliel apat in Bamoth ajon un ahi.
and from Mattanah, to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel, to Bamoth;
20 Bamoth phaicham alhung tauvin hichu Moab gamsung ahin Pisgah mun hiche apat chu Jeshimon lam ki galdot ahi tai.
and, from Bamoth of the valley, which is in the field-country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, —which overlooketh Jeshimon.
21 Chuin Israel miten Mose lamkaijin Amor mite lengpa Sihon henga thuthot aneiyun ahi.
Then sent Israel messengers, unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying:
22 Keima hon nagam leiset chu kapel thei diu ham keiho ching thei tah a kachi diu chule lengpi lei lah a kachi lou diu nangho tuikhuh a jong tui kadon lou diu ahi. Nangho gamkai sunga hi lengpa lamlen bou kaho pa diu ahi bouve, tin aseiyun ahi.
Let me pass through thy land we will not turn aside into field or into vineyard, nor will we drink the water of a well, —by the king’s road, will we go, until we get through thy boundary.
23 Ahinlah Amor mite lengpa Sihon chun Israel mite chu agam ajotpa na diu chu aphal peh tapon, phalpih malah chun lengpa Sihon chu agalsat techu akou khom in abonchauvin gam thip laitah ah chun abulu tan Jahaz kiti mun a chun aki bulu to tauvin ahi.
And Sihon suffered not Israel to pass through his boundary, but Sihon gathered together all his people, and came forth to meet Israel, towards the desert, and entered Jahaz, and fought with Israel.
24 Isreal miten jong Amor mite chu ale thuh un agam leiset ho jouse jong atou pha tauvin, Arnon vadung apat Jabbok vadung gei Isreal mite chu Amon mite gamgi chan ahung galkaijun Amon mite khopi chu hoitah a kigen kul ahijeh chun hiche muna chun ahung lhung tauvin ahi.
And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, —and took possession of his land, from Arnon unto Jabbok, unto the sons of Ammon, for strong, was the boundary of the sons of Ammon.
25 Hichun Isreal mite le Amon miten agam le lei jouse alo sohtauvin Hesbon khopi ahin adang dang khovel ho jong atou pha sohtauvin ahi.
So Israel took all these cities, —and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all her villages;
26 Amor mite lengpa Sihon dinga Hesbon khopi ana hin Moab mite lengpa kulpi jong ana tou pha in chule Arnon vadung gei ana toupha in ahi.
for, as for Heshbon, the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, it was, he, having fought with the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, unto Arnon.
27 Mimasa hon Sihon thusimho anajihlut un ahile Hesbon lang apat nang ho hung umdol thusim chu hiche ahin Sihon khopi avella kitung doh kit ahiye.
For this cause, say the poets—Enter ye Heshbon, —Built and prepared be the city of Sihon;
28 Hesbon na kon in mei kong ahung kong doh in Sihon kiti’a konin meikhu ahung khu doh in Maob khopi a Arnon umna Moab khopi Arnon chu meikong in ahal lhatai Arnon mite lah a sangtah'a umho chu asuse taove.
For, a fire, hath come forth out of Heshbon, A flame, out of the stronghold of Sihon; It hath consumed Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of Arnon.
29 Moab mite hi itabang genthei nan alhun khum hitam! Chemosh boh khup teho nangma akichai na hitai Chemosh in pasal ho umna neilou bang asoh tan a chanu te vang chu Sihon, Amor mite lengpa khut’a asoh achang tauvin ahi.
Woe to thee, Moab, Thou art lost, O people of Chemosh, —He hath given up his sons as fugitives, And his daughters into captivity, Unto the king of the Amorites, Sihon.
30 Eihon amaho chu Hesbon a pat’a Dibon gei chu isuh cheh taovin, eihon amho chu Nophah apat Medeba gei chu ipum nocheh taovin ahi.
Then we shot them—Heshbon is destroyed, as far as Dibon, —Then laid we waste as far as Nophah, A fire reacheth unto Medeba.
31 Hiti ahi jeh chun Isreal miten Amor mite chenna gam alo khum taovin ahi.
So then Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
32 Mose’n phat chomkhat jouvin Jaazer lam ah’a khol chedin asoltan Isreal miten hiche vel'a khopi um jouse chu atou pha tauvin hikom a cheng Amor mite chu abonchauvin ano doh tauve.
And Moses sent to spy out Jazer, and they captured the villages thereof, —and dispossessed the Amorites that were there.
33 Hichun Isreal mite aki nung hei taovin Bashan jotna lam ajon tauvin, amavang Bashan lengpa Og chun ama nam mite jouse chutoh Edrei mun ah ana bulhu uvin ahi.
Then turned they, and went up by the way of Bashan, —and Og, king of Bashan, came forth to meet them—he and all his people, to give battle at Edrei.
34 Pakajin Mose henga thu aseiyin Bashan lengpa Og chu ging hih beh in ajeh chu keiman nangma hi gal jona ka peh ding, amaho gamle leiset jouse chule amite chunga thanei na le galjona kapeh nahi tai. Heshbon vaipopa Amor mite lengpa Sihon nabol na bang tah a nagal jo kitding ahi.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Do not fear him, for into thy hand, have I delivered him and all his people, and his land, —Therefore shalt thou do unto him, as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, who was dwelling in Heshbon.
35 Hichun Isreal miten Og lengpa kiti pa ahin amite jouse chu koimacha ahing a nakoi loubeh diu ahi tai. Hichun Isreal miten Bashan mite jouse chu agam le aleiset atou pha taovin asat gam tauve.
So then they smote him and his sons and all his people, until there was not left him a remnant, —and took possession of his land.
