< Nehemiah 1 >
1 Hacaliah chapa Nehemiah tohdoh chengse ho chu ahi, Artaxerxes in lengvai apoh kal kum somni lhin kum Kislev lhasungin, keima Nehemiah hi gamsung’a khopi lenpen Susa khopi sunga kana um'in ahi.
The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 Kasopi ho lah a mikhat Hanani kitipa chun mi phabep khat toh Judah gam'a konin eihung vil’un ahi. Keiman amaho chu Juda teho Babylon a asohchan nauva akona ana kile kit ho chu itobang nauvem chule Jerusalem chu itobang nam tithu kana dongin ahi.
That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and [certain] men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 Amahon hiti hin eidonbut uve, “Sohchan naova konna hung kile Judate chu, hinkho hahsa tah le Avella cheng namdan ten anoise lheh uve, Chule Jerusalem kulpi bang chu akisuchim nia pat, kelkot ho jouse jong meiya ana kihal lhah gam jou apat semphat louvin aum e,” ti eiseipeh un ahi.
And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province [are] in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also [is] broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
4 Hiche thuhi kajah phat in katou lha jengin kakap jah tai. Chuti chun nikho phabep sung chun lunghem tah in an ka-ngol’in chule van Pathen koma kataovin ahi.
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned [certain] days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
5 “O Pakai, van Pathen, nathupeh nit hole nangma ngailu jingho chunga na milungset nale nakitepna chepi jinga oupe tah le tijat umtah Pathen nahi!
And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
6 Nami Israelte dinga sun le jana kataona hi venlang chule kataona hi neihin ngaipeh in! Ajeh chu keiho hi nangma douna a chonse kahi tauve, keima insung le keima tah jeng jong kachonse tauve tia kaphondoh ahi.
Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned.
7 Chule nalhachapa Mose a kona neipeh’u nathupeh ho le chonna dan chule neithu gah na ho kanit pouvin melse tah in kachonse tauve.
We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
8 Chule nangman nalhachapa Mose koma nanaseisa, “Nangho keima koma nakitah lou’ule keiman chitin namtin laha kathe cheh ding nahiuve.
Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, [If] ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
9 Amavang nangho kaheng’a nahung kile hei’uva kathu peh nanit’uva hiche dungjuiya chu nachon’uva ahileh leiset kol mong geiya ana kithe chehsa hijong leu chun kamin dopsang na dinga keiman kagon pehnau gam ma chu kahin nung puilut kit diu ahi nati,” chu hingel doh kit’in.
But [if] ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, [yet] will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
10 Hiche nam mite hi nalhacha te ahiuve, naban gol thahat nale natha neina’a nahuh dohsa ahiuve.
Now these [are] thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.
11 O Pakai kataona hi lungset tah in neingai peh in! Nangma ja bolna a thanomte taona ngaipeh in, tuni hin lengpa khohsah na neimu sah in lang neilolhin sah in; lengpa lungsunga khoto na neimu sah in.” kati. Hiche phatlai chun, lengpa juhaidom in kana pange.
O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.
