1 Hiche jonghi keiman chingthei tah in ka khol in: Pathen ngaisah hole miching ho jong Pathen khutna uma ahiuvin, amaho hi Pathen’in ahepi ding hinauvem ti koima ahetoh’a aumpoi.
For all this I laid to my heart, even to make clear all this: that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God; whether it be love or hatred, man knoweth it not; all is before them.
2 Mi tinin atonsot mun diu ngah jinga uma ahiuve, michonpha hihen, migilou hijong leh, mipha hihen, miphalou hijongleh, athenga kigel ho hiuhen, athenglou hijongleu, hou ngaisah hihen, hou ngaisahlou hijongleh, mipha hon jong michonse ho bangma’a Pathen’a kitepna neiho jong kitepna neilouho toh kithakhatma ahije.
All things come alike to all; there is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth and to him that sacrificeth not; as is the good, so is the sinner, and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
3 Amitakip nipi noija umho jouse chan kibanga athiltou hi lungdon umtah ahi. Hitobang hohin thilpha bolbe nadinga ching thei lou’uva ahi. Chusang in amahon angol nau joh chu aki deilhen uve, ajeh chu amaho kinepna neilou ahiuve. Amasang uva imacha dang umlou thina bou chu uma ahi.
This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event unto all; yea also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4 Mihing ding in kinepna bou aum’e. Ama hon asei uvin, “Uicha hing chu keipi thisa sangin aphachom joi.”
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 Mihngho chun athi diu beh akihet’uvin, hinlah athisa hon imacha ahe tapouve.
For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Amahon ahinkhouva ipi hijongleh abholchanu chu ki-ngailut, ki-thet, ki-mitthip abonna achemangsa ahitai. Amahon hiche leiset chunga hin bolbe ding anei tapouve.
As well their love, as their hatred and their envy, is long ago perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
7 Hijeh chun na-an chu kipah thanomtah in nen, chule na-lengpitwi chu lung kipah pum in don in, ajeh chu Pathen’in hichu aphatsah ahi.
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God hath already accepted thy works.
8 Von hoipen chun kivon in, chule lou namtui chu kinu-in.
Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no oil.
9 Numei nangailutnu chuto nipi noija Pathen’in napeh nahinkho umpet chun kipahtah in hing khom in. Najia nanei chuto phaten hingkhom lhon in.
Enjoy life with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which He hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity; for that is thy portion in life, and in thy labour wherein thou labourest under the sun.
10 Nabol chan chu hoitah’in bol tan. Ajeh chu nangma lhankhuh’a na chetengleh natoh ding um talou ding, tohgon jong um talou ding, hetna jeng jong umta pontin, chihna geija bei ding ahitai. (Sheol h7585)
Whatsoever thy hand attaineth to do by thy strength, that do; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Sheol h7585)
11 Keiman nipi noija adang chom khat jong ka mudoh’e. Lhaija hat penpan jong kipaman amu jing ahipoi, chule galsatna hatpenpa jeng jong chu galjona chang jing ahipoi. Miching jong chu kelthoh’a avale jipet aum in, chule khut them hon jong lungkimna amudeh pouve. Chule lekhathem tahho jong chu lolhinna hinkho mang jinga ahipouve. Hiche ho jouse hi vang'in apohji ahin, hitia chu aphatcha amuna gatoh kha kiti ahi.
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
12 Itobang phat hahsa hunglhung ding ahi koima asei theija aum poi. Ngalen sung’a um vacha athangkol sunga um tobang'in miho chu phulou helouvin hamset nan apha jiuve.
For man also knoweth not his time; as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
13 Hichea hin chihna themkhat keima vannoi khosah dan hin eilung lut sah aume.
This also have I seen as wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
14 Khopi neocha khat asunga cheng mijong themkhat bou ahiuve, chule leng lentah khat chu asepai hotoh ahung un, khopi chu aum kimvel tauve.
there was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it;
15 Mivaicha, michingtah khat chun hiche khopi chu iti huhdoh ding ahi ahen, chule hitichun huhdoh in aumtai. Hinlah hiche jou chun koima chan akoma kipa thu aseipouve.
now there was found in it a man poor and wise, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
16 Hiti chun, chihna hi thahat sanga aphatjoh vang'in, miching chu avaichatleh mi nahsahmo achang e. Athuseidoh ho chu kipapi sotna koiman anei poi.
Then said I: 'Wisdom is better than strength; nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.'
17 Leng ngolpa kisen aw jahsang in michingpan olcha thu asei jah nom aum joi.
The words of the wise spoken in quiet are more acceptable than the cry of a ruler among fools.
18 Galman chah hoa kivon kichei sang in chih thujah apha joi. Hinlah michonse khat chun apha tampi asuh mang thei joh ahi.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroyeth much good.
