< Thuhilpa 8 >
1 Chihna neihi iti kidan hitam, thil ho geltohna neija chule ipi kiseina ahi phongdoh chihna hin, mihem amai avahsah in lungkhohna asunem theije.
Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face is changed.
2 Nangman Pathen thua nung dinga nakitepna dung jui chun lengpa thu thun nung in.
I counsel thee: keep the king's command, and that in regard of the oath of God.
3 Natoh ding kin bollou ding in kigo hih in, chule lungthim phalou gongho tojong pan lakhom hih beh-in, ajeh chu lengpan abolnom nom abolthei ahije.
Be not hasty to go out of his presence; stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
4 Athupeh chu thaneina in ajuijin, koima ananjou dingleh ipi dinga hitia nabol ham tia seithei ding aum poi.
Forasmuch as the king's word hath power; and who may say unto him: 'What doest thou?'
5 Athua nungho chun talen man pouvinte. Miching ho chun adih bolna ding phat ahaimil pouvin chule abolje ahet tei ding’u ahi.
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall know no evil thing; and a wise man's heart discerneth time and judgment.
6 Ajeh chu thil ijakai bolna ding phat le bolje hetna phat mikhat chun hahsatna ato teng jongleh amuji ahi.
For to every matter there is a time and judgment; for the evil of man is great upon him.
7 Ahimong in, ipi hunglhung ding ahi hephalou mipi chun iti hichu apel thei diu hitam?
For he knoweth not that which shall be; for even when it cometh to pass, who shall declare it unto him?
8 I-lah’uva ithi diu nikho atuhtang thei ium pouve. Hiche muthim galsatna, ito diu hi ahoidohna ding aum poi.
There is no man that hath power over the wind to retain the wind; neither hath he power over the day of death; and there is no discharge in war; neither shall wickedness deliver him that is given to it.
9 Hiche nipi noija che jinga, chal jinga um miho chun khat le khat kisuh khah tona aneiyu hi lunggil tah in kangaiton ahi.
All this have I seen, even applied my heart thereto, whatever the work that is done under the sun; what time one man had power over another to his hurt.
10 Keiman migilou ho jabol tah’a akivui kamui. Hinlah amaho hi houin sunga chu kijomtah’a athilbol phalouvu umna mun ma’a chun jabolna achanguve! Hiche jong hi ajeh bei tobangbep ahi kit’e.
And so I saw the wicked buried, and they entered into their rest; but they that had done right went away from the holy place, and were forgotten in the city; this also is vanity.
11 Asukhel chu gimbolna akipeh paiji louva ahileh, miho chun thilse bol ding in ahung kitil khou doh jiuvin ahi.
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil;
12 Hinlah mikhat chun chonset javei jen bol hen lang chule sotpi hing nalai henlang hijongleh, Pathen gingho dingin aphajo cheh ahiti, keiman kahei.
because a sinner doeth evil a hundred times, and prolongeth his days — though yet I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, that fear before Him;
13 Migilouho chu lolhing lou diu ahi, ajeh chu amahon Pathen ginna anei pouve. Nilhah lam lim tobangbep’in ahinkhou sotponte.
but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he feareth not before God.
14 Chule hiche hi i-chen nau vannoi leisetna ajehbeija ahideh poi. Hiche lei hinkhoa hin miphaho jong chu migilouho bolla akibol kom aum jiuvin, chule migilouho hi miphatah bolla akibol nau jong aumjie. Hiche jong hi ajehbei tobangbep chu ahi.
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth: that there are righteous men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous — I said that this also is vanity.
15 Hiti chun keiman nuijat’umna chu ka phatsah’in ahi, ajeh chu mihon aneh uva, adon uva chule hinkho akipa thanoppi diu hi kaphat sahpeh ahi. Hitia chu Pathen’in amaho chu nipi noija ana tohgim nauva kon kipana khat anei theina diu ahi.
So I commended mirth, that a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry, and that this should accompany him in his labour all the days of his life which God hath given him under the sun.
16 Keiman chihna kaholna’a hin, chule hiche vannoi leiset chunga miho pohgih poh kavet jingna’a hin, keiman kakholdoh chu sunle janna kichol tih um louva kho-sahna ka mudoh in ahi.
When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth — for neither day nor night do men see sleep with their eyes —
17 Keiman kahetdoh chu mihem koimachan Pathen’in nipi noija anatohdoh chu akholdoh joulou ding ahi, tihi ahi. Mihem koima chan ipi seijong leh miching penho jengin jong ijakai akholdoh joulou diu ahi.
then I beheld all the work of God, that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun; because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further, though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.
