< 1 Samuel 15 >

1 Nikhat Saul koma Samuel chun, “Israelte chunga leng dinga nangma thaonu dinga eina sol’a chu Pakai amatah chu ahi, hijeh a chu tua Pakai thusei hi nangaiding ahi,” ati.
And Samuel said unto Saul, Me did the Lord send to anoint thee as king over his people, over Israel; and now hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
2 Hiche hi van gam sepaite Pakaiyin aphondoh ahi, Israel mite Egypt a kona ahung potdoh uva chu lampia iti analamtin jeh uva, Amalek chunga hi talen kamatsah ding ahitai.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I remember what Amalek did to Israel, how he lay in wait for him on the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3 Tun che unlang Amalek mite chu abonchan gathat gamkeijun, nao noichep ho geija natha ding’u, khatcha jong nakhen lou diu, pasal, numei, chapang, naosen, bong, kelcha, sangongsao, chule sangan ho chang geiya natha gam diu ahi,” ati.
Now go and smite 'Amalek, and devote all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and lamb, camel and ass.
4 Chutah’in Saul in mipi ho chu Telaim mun’ah akhomin, amaho chu Israel mite’a konin keng sepai sang jani chule Judah a kona mi sangsom ahiuve.
And Saul ordered the people to assemble, and he numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand men on foot, and ten thousand of the men of Judah.
5 Chuin Saul le a sepaite chu Amalek te khopi’ah alut un, phaicham mun khat’ah chun angah tauve.
And Saul came to the city of 'Amalek, and he fought in the valley.
6 Saul in Ken miteho gihna thu apen, “Amalek miho umna-a konin potdoh’un, achuti louva ahile Amalek mihotoh nathitha dingu ahi, Nangho vang chu kami Israel chate jouse Egypt’a kona ahung potdoh uchun hepina namusah un ahi,” tin thu apen ahi. Chuin Ken mihon apot akigot’un adalha tauve.
And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from the midst of the 'Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them; whereas ye acted kindly with all the children of Israel, at their coming up out of Egypt. And the Kenites departed from the midst of the 'Amalekites.
7 Chuin Saul in Amalek mite chu Havilah apat solam Egypt toh kigalsai Shur khopi lutna geijin gal ana sat’in asumangpeh tan ahi.
And Saul smote the 'Amalekites from Chavilah until thou comest to Shur, that is before Egypt.
8 Chuin aman Amalek lengpa chu ahing in aman in midang jouse chu chemjam in athat soh hel tan ahi.
And he caught Agag the king of the 'Amalekites alive, and all the people he devoted to the edge of the sword.
9 Ahinlah Saul le mipi chun, Amalek mi Agag le kelngoi, kelcha, bongchal thao hole ahoipen ho ahing hoijun, aphalou ahoilou chengse chu asumanghel tan ahi.
But Saul together with the people had pity on Agag, and on the best of the flocks, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the fat lambs, and all that was good, and they would not destroy them; but all the cattle that was of little value and weak, that they destroyed.
10 Chuin Pakaiyin Samuel komah aseijin ahi,
And the word of the Lord came unto Samuel, saying,
11 “Saul lenga kana tun hi kakisihtai ajeh chu aman eidonse tapon chule kathupeh ho jong anit tapoi,” ati. Hiche thu Samuel in ajahdoh phat in alung atongkhan, jan khovah hellin Pakai hengah akaptai.
I repent that I have set up Saul as king; for he hath turned back from following me, and my word hath he not performed: and it displeased Samuel, and he cried unto the Lord all the night.
12 Ajing jingkah matah in Samuel jong Saul kimupi dingin achetan ahile, mi khat’in, “Saul chun Carmel khopi’a amale ama kihet jingna ding mangmo khat akisem din Gilgal lam achesuh tan ahi,” tin aseipeh tan ahi.
And Samuel rose up early to meet Saul in the morning; and it was told to Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set himself up a monument, and then went about, and passed on, and went down to Gilgal.
13 Chuin Samuel in Saul chu amu phat in, Saul in kipah tah’in ana salam, “Pakaiyin phatthei naboh hen, keiman Pakai seibang bangin kaboltai,” atin ahi.
And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou unto the Lord, I have performed the word of the Lord.
14 Samuel in, “Ahile kanabeng’a kelngoi hamgin le bongchal hamgin kajah hi ipiba hija ong?” ati.
And Samuel said, What is then this bleating of the flocks in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
15 Hichun Saul in adonbut in, “Adih’e, kasepai tehon amale Amalek mite akona ahin kaiju ahi, ajeh chu mipihon kelngoi hole bongchal aphapen penho chu, ‘Pakai na Pathen lhaina dinga ahing hoiju ahi,’ adangho vang kasumang heltaove,” ati.
And Saul said, From the 'Amalekites have they brought them; because the people had pity on the best of the flocks and of the oxen, in order to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God; and the rest have we destroyed.
16 Chuin Samuel’in Saul koma aseiyin, “Thip in! Tujan Pakaiyin kahenga thu asei hi ngaijin!” ati. Hichun Saul in, “Ipi naseipeh em?” tin Saul in adongin ahi.
And Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the Lord said to me this night: and he said unto him, Speak.
17 Chuin Samuel in, “Nangma neocha nakigel maithei ahi, nangma Israel nam mite jouse lah’a lamkai nahi hilou ham? Pakaiyin leng dinga thaonanu ahi.
And Samuel said, Is it not that, however little thou wast in thy own eyes, thou art the head of the tribes of Israel? and the Lord anointed thee as king over Israel?
18 Chule Pakai in anatong dinga nasolla, chen michonse Amalek mite gathat gamkeijin atin.
And the Lord sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and destroy the sinners, the 'Amalekites, and thou shalt fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Ipi bolla Pakai thupeh nanit louham? Ipi jeh pentah jeh a thil nachom’a Pakai mitmua thilse nabol ham?” ati.
Wherefore then didst thou not hearken unto the voice of the Lord, and didst fly upon the spoil, and didst the evil in the eyes of the Lord?
20 Saul’in, “Ahinlah Pakai thupeh kabolle, bollin tia eisol na kagabolle. Agag lengpa bou ahing’a kahin kai ahin. Ahin adangse vang kahin that gamnai,” ati nalaiyin ahi.
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have fully hearkened unto the voice of the Lord; and I went on the way which the Lord had sent me; and I have brought Agag the king of 'Amalek; and the 'Amalekites have I destroyed.
21 Chutengle kasepaiten, kelngoi, kelcha, bongchal, athaolai, ahoilai hole thil kichom hohi Gilgal’a na Pathen houna-a dinga ahin kaiyu ahibouve,” ati.
And the people took of the spoil, of the flocks and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
22 Ahin Samuel in, “Pakai chu pumgo thilto kibol le athupeh ngaipeh hi hoijoh’a hi kipah inte natim? Ngaijin! Sei ngai kitihi gan kilhai sanga phajo ahin, kangcha athusei ngaipeh kitihi kelngoichal thao sang’a phajo ahi,” tin adonbut in ahi.
And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as much delight in burnt-offerings and in sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to attend more than the fat of the rams.
23 Pakai doumah kibol kiti hi kithoi phunsan tobang ahin, chule louchal kiti hi doi houva themmo chan tobang ahi. Pakai thupeh napai jeh a Aman leng nahina’a kona napai ahitai,” ati.
For the sin of witchcraft is rebellion, and idolatry and image-worship, stubbornness; inasmuch as thou hast despised the word of the Lord, he hath also despised thee that thou shalt not be king.
24 Saul in, “Henge, keima kachonsetai, keiman neihilna hojong kangaipon chule Pakai thupeh jong kanit tapoi, kasepaite kagin jeh’a athil thum hou kabolpeh ahitai,” ati.
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the will of the Lord, and thy words; because I feared the people, and I hearkened to their voice.
25 “Hijeh chun kachonsetna hohi nei ngaidam in lang chule Pathen kahou thei nadin nei kinung lhonpin,” ati.
And now, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may prostrate myself to the Lord.
26 Ahinlah Samuel in adonbut in, “Keitoh ikinung lhon theilou ding ahi! Pakai thupeh na paimang jeh’a, aman Israel te lenga kona napaidoh ahitai,” ati.
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee; for thou didst despise the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath despised thee, that thou shalt not be king over Israel.
27 Hichun Samuel chemang dinga akiheiya ahile, aman asangkhol chol mong chun aman in aloi eh-lotan ahi.
And Samuel turned about to go: and he laid hold on the corner of his mantle, and it was rent.
28 Chuin Samuel in ajah ah, “Tunia hi Pakaiyin Israelte lenggam chu nanga kona nalah peh’a, nang sanga phajo khat apeh doh ahitai,” ati.
And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from off thee this day, and hath given it to thy associate, who is better than thou.
29 “Israel Pathen lal loupi tah chun ajou louding, alung jong khel lou ding ahi, ajeh chu ama lungkhel ding mihem tobang ahipoi,” ati
And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.
30 Hichun Saul’in ngaidam athum kit in, “Chonse kahi, keiman kakihet e, ahin nei lungset in, kalamkai ho masang le, kami Israel mite masanga kajum lou nadin, nei kilhonpi tei teijin, chutile Pakai na Pathen kahou ding ahi,” ati.
And he said, I have sinned; [yet] honor me now, I pray thee, in the presence of the elders of my people, and in the presence of Israel, and return with me, that I may prostrate myself unto the Lord thy God.
31 Hichun Samuel jong achaina in kinung lhonpi ding anomtai, chule Pathen houna ah ajaotai.
So Samuel returned, following Saul; and Saul prostrated himself to the Lord.
32 Chuin Samuel in, “Agag lengpa chu kaheng’a hinpuijun,” atin ahile, Agag lengpa jong kinemtah in akipah lheh in ahi, ajeh chu ama alunggel’a chu, “kagim na ho kichaiya, eikilhadoh di ahitai,” tia agel ahi.
And Samuel said, Bring ye hither unto me Agag the king of the 'Amalekites: and Agag came unto him cheerfully; and Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
33 Ahinlah Samuel in, “Nachemjam’a hi minu acha pasal tamtah nana that in, tun nanu jong hitobanga chu chaneilou hitahen,” atin ahi. Chuin Samuel in Agag chu Pakai masang ah Gilgal mun ah asatchen chen tan ahi.
And Samuel said, As thy sword did make women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women; and Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
34 Chuin Samuel Ramah a ainlam ajon in chule Saul jong Gibeah a ain’ah akile tai.
Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house at Gib'ah of Saul.
35 Chujou kalsen Samuel in Saul kimupin ache kha-ngai tapoi, ahinlah tanglou vin alunghempi jingin ahi. Pakaiyin Saul Israel te lenga anatun chu akisih lheh jenge.
And Samuel did not see Saul any more until the day of his death; because Samuel mourned for Saul; and the Lord repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
