< Johan 4 >
1 Jesu ing Johan anglakawh hubat khawzah khqoet hu nawh baptisma awm khawzah pehy tice Farasikhqi ing za uhy,
When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and immersing more disciples than John
2 Jesu amah ingtaw baptisma ce am pehy, a hubatkhqi ing ni ami peek hy.
(although Jesus himself did not immerse, but his disciples),
3 Bawipa ing ce ce a sim awh, Judah ce cehta nawh Kalili na cet tlaih hy.
he left Judea, and departed into Galilee.
4 Cawh Samari qam awhkawng ceh aham ce awm hy.
And it was necessary for him to pass through Samaria.
5 Cedawngawh Jakob ing a capa Joseph a venawh a peek lo a venawh ak awm, Sikar ak mingnaak Samari khaw ce pha hy.
So he comes to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the place that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Cawh Jakob ing tui ak cawh tuikuk awm hy, lam a cehnaak awh ce hoet nawh, Jesu taw cawhkaw tuikuk a venawh ce ngawi hy. Khawnoek kquk tluk law hawh hy.
And Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied from the journey, thus was sitting on the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 Cawh Samari nu pynoet ce tui ak than na law hy, Jesu ing a venawh, “Tui awk ahamni pe lah,” tina hy.
A woman of Samaria comes to draw water. Jesus says to her, Give me to drink.
8 A hubatkhqi taw buh ak thlai aham khawk khuina cet hawh uhy.
For his disciples had gone away into the city so that they might buy food.
9 Samari nu ing a venawh, “Nang taw Juda thlang, kai ve Samari nu ni. Ikawmyihna tui awk aham kai a venna na thoeh law?” tina hy. (Judakhqi ing Samarikhqi ve am pawlneng qu khawi uhy.)
The Samaritan woman therefore says to him, How do thou, being Jewish, ask to drink from me, being a Samaritan woman, for Jews do not associate with Samaritans?
10 Jesu ing a venawh, “Khawsa a kutdo ce sim nawh na venawh tui ak thoeh lawkung ve na sim mantaw, nang ing thoeh kawm tiksaw anih ing hqingnaak tui ce ni pe hlai voei,” tina hy.
Jesus answered and said to her, If thou had known the gift of God, and who it is who says to thee, Give me to drink, thou would have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 Cawh cawhkaw nu ing, “Bawipa, cawhtaw tui awm na than aham am ngoe voel hy, tuikuk awm dung soeih hy. Cawhkaw hqingnaak tui ce hana kaw nu na huh thai kaw?
The woman says to him, Sir, thou have not even a container, and the well is deep. From where then have thou the living water?
Are thou greater than our father Jacob who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, and his sons, and his livestock?
13 Jesu ing a venawh, “U awm vawhkaw tui ak awkhqi boeih taw tui ngaih tlaih kaw,
Jesus answered and said to her, Every man who drinks of this water will thirst again,
14 cehlai u awm kai ing ka peek tui ak aw taw tui am ngaih voel kaw. Kai ing ka peek tui ce ak kawk khuiawh tuibym a myihna kumqui hqingnaak dyna lawng poepa hy,” tina hy. (aiōn , aiōnios )
but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will, no, not thirst into the age. But the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
15 Nu ing a venawh, “Bawipa, tui am ka ngaihnaak voel aham cawhkaw tui ce ni pe lah, vawhkaw tui awm am ka thannaak voel aham,” tina hy.
The woman says to him, Give me this water, sir, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw out.
16 Jesu ing, “Cet nawh na vaa ce vak khy nawhtaw voei law tlaih,” tina hy.
Jesus says to her, Go, call thy husband, and come here.
17 Anih ing, “Vaa am ta nyng,” tina hy. Jesu ing a venawh, “Vaa am ta nyng, na ti ce thym hy.
The woman answered and said to him, I have no husband. Jesus says to her, Thou said correctly, I have no husband.
18 Cehlai vaa pumha ta hawh hyk ti, tuhkaw pa na taak ce awm na vaa amni. Tuhkaw nak kqawn ce thym hy,” tina hy.
For thou have had five husbands, and he whom thou now have is not thy husband. This thou have said true.
19 Nu ing, “Bawipa, nang ve tawngha ni tice ni sim nyng.
The woman says to him, Sir, I perceive that thou are a prophet.
20 Ka pakhqi ing ve a tlang awh Khawsa ana beek uhy, cehlai nangmih Judakhqi ingtaw Jerusalem awh ni Khawsa beek aham a awm hy, ti uhyk ti,” tina hy.
Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship.
21 Jesu ing, “Nang nu, nik cangna lah, ve tlang ingkaw Jerusalem kqawn kaana, Pa bawknaak a tym ce law hawh kaw.
Jesus says to her, Woman, believe me, that the hour is coming when neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem will ye worship the Father.
22 Nangmih Samari thlangkhqi ing am nami sim ce bawk uhyk ti; cehlai thaawngnaak ce Judakhqi venawh kawng a law dawngawh, kaimih ingtaw ka mi sim ce bawk unyng.
Ye worship what ye do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews.
23 Cehlai Khawsa ak bawkkhqi ing Pa ce Myihla ingkaw awitak ing bawknaak a tym ce law kaw, tuh awm law hawh hy, cemyihna Khawsa ak bawk thlangkhqi ce Pa ing sui hy.
But an hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for also the Father seeks such kind who worship him.
24 Khawsa taw Myihla na a awm dawngawh amah ak beek thlangkhqi ing Myihla ingkaw awitak ing a beek aham awm hy,” tina hy.
God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
25 Nu ing, “Messiah law kaw tice sim nyng. Anih a law awh, ik-oeih boeih boeih ce kqawn caih law kaw,” tina hy.
The woman says to him, I know that Messiah comes, he who is called Christ. When that man comes he will declare all things to us.
26 Cawh Jesu ing, “Nang a venawh awi ak kqawn kai ve anih hawh ni,” tina hy.
Jesus says to her, I who speak to thee am the man.
27 Cekcoengawh a hubatkhqi ce voei law tlaih uhy, nu ing awi anik kqawn ce ami huh awh amik kawpoek kyi hy. Cehlai u ingawm “Kaw na ngaih? Ikawtih aw nu ingqawi awi na nik kqawn?” tinawh am doet uhy.
And upon this his disciples came. And they marveled that he spoke with the woman, yet no man said, What seek thou? or, Why do thou speak with her?
28 Cawhkaw nu ing a tuium ce cehta nawh khawk khuina ang dawng coengawh thlangkhqi venawh,
The woman therefore left her water pot, and departed into the city, and says to the men,
29 “Law unawh taw, ka them sai boeih boeih ak kqawn lawkung thlang ce toek law lah uh. Khrih hy leek nu?” tinak khqi hy.
Come, see a man who told me all, as many things as I did. Is not this the Christ?
30 Thlangkhqi ce khawk khui awhkawng law unawh anih ce ak toek na cet uhy.
They went out of the city, and came to him.
31 Cawh a hubatkhqi ing, “Cawngpyikung, buh ai cang thoeih ti,” tina uhy.
In the meanwhile the disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
32 Cehlai a mingmih a venawh, “Nangmih ing am nami sim ai kawi buh ta nyng,” tinak khqi hy.
But he said to them, I have food to eat that ye know not.
33 A hubatkhqi ing, “Thlang pynoet oet ing ai kawi haw law pe nawh hy voei nu?” ti uhy.
The disciples therefore said to each other, Did any man bring him to eat?
34 Jesu ing, “Anik tyikung ak kawngaih sai aham ingkaw a bibi coeng peek aham ve ka buh ni.
Jesus says to them, My food is that I do the will of him who sent me, and may finish his work.
35 Hlak phli coeng awhtaw caang ah khoek hawh kaw, ti uhyk ti ka ti my? Ka nik kqawn peek khqi, nami mik dai unawh lokhqi ce toek lah uh! Caang hin nawh ah aham khoek hawh hy.
Do ye not say, There are still four months and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and see the fields, that they are already white for harvest.
36 Tuh za caang ak aatkung ing thaphu hu hawh hy, caang ak sawkung ingkaw caang ak aatkung ce ani zeelnaak thai aham, kumqui hqingnaak aham caang ce tuh aat hawh hy. (aiōnios )
And he who reaps receives a wage and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. (aiōnios )
37 Thlang pynoet ing saw nawh, pynoet ing aat hy,’ tinaak awi ve thym hy.
For in this the saying is true, One is who sows, and another who reaps.
38 Nangmih ing am nami bi lo khuiawh cang ah ahamni tyi khqi nyng. Thlak chang ing bibi ak kyi ce ana bi hawh uhy, nangmih ing a mingmih a bibinaak ce aat uhyk ti,” tinak khqi hy.
I sent you to reap what ye have not labored. Others have labored, and ye have entered into their labor.
39 Cawhkaw nu ing, “Ka ik-oeih sai boeih kqawn law hy,” tinawh a simpyinaak awh ce a khawk khui awhkaw Samari thlang khawzah ing cangna uhy.
And many of the Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all, as many things as I did.
40 Samari thlangkhqi ce a ven ami pha law awh, a mingmih a venawh awm aham thoeh uhy, cedawngawh khaw hih voei a mingmih ce awm pyi hy.
So when the Samaritans came to him they asked him to remain with them, and he remained there two days.
41 Ak awih kqawn awh thlang khawzah ngai ing cangna uhy.
And many more believed because of his word.
42 Cekkhqi ing cawhkaw nu a venawh, “Nang ing nak kqawn awh ap cangna unyng saw; ka mimah qoe qoe ing za unawh ve ak thlang ve khawmdek thaawngkung ni tice ka sim dawgawh, cangna hawh unyng,” tina uhy.
And they said to the woman, We no longer believe because of thy speaking, for we have heard ourselves, and know that this really is the Savior of the world, the Christ.
43 Khaw hihvoei a awm coengawh Kalili na cet hy.
And after the two days he departed from there and went into Galilee.
44 Tawngha a u awm amah a ram awh zoeksang na am awm khawi hy, tinawh Jesu amah qoe ing ak kqawn hawh dawngawh.
For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own fatherland.
45 Kalili ce a pha awh, Kalili thlangkhqi ing do uhy. Jerusalem khaw awh cehtaak poei awhkaw a them saikhqi boeih ce ami huh dawngawh, cawh cekkhqi ce cawh awm lawt uhy.
So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46 Cekcoengawh tui misur na ang coeng saknaak Kalili ram awhkaw Kana khaw na cet tlaih hy. Cawh Kapernaum khaw awh a capa ak tlo qalboei pynoet ce cawh awm hy.
Jesus therefore came again to Cana of Galilee where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 Cawhkaw boei ing Judah ram awhkawng Kalili ram na Jesu law hy tice ang zaak awh, a venna law nawh ak thi tawm a capa ce qoei sak aham qeennaak thoeh hy.
This man having heard that Jesus comes out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was going to die.
48 Jesu ing a venawh, “Nangmih ing kawpoek kyi ik-oeih ingkaw hatnaakkhqi am nami huh awhtaw ityk awh awm ap cangna hly uhyk ti,” tina hy.
Jesus therefore said to him, Unless ye may see signs and wonders, ye will, no, not believe.
49 Cawhkaw boei ing, “Bawipa, ka capa a thih hlanawh law cang lah,” tina hy.
The nobleman says to him, Sir, come down before my child dies.
50 Jesu ing, “Cet hlah, na capa ce qoei hawh hy,” tina hy. Jesu ak awi ce cangna nawh cet hy.
Jesus says to him, Go, thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and he departed.
51 Lam awh a ceh awh, a tyihzawihkhqi ing a capa ce leek tlaih hawh hy ti awithang leek ing ana do law uhy.
And as he was now going down, his bondmen met him and reported, saying, Thy boy lives.
52 Han a tym awh nu a capa a leek tlaih tice a doet awh, a venawh, “Zan awh khawnoek khqih awh a tlawhnaak ing hlah law hy,” tina uhy.
So he inquired of them the hour in which he fared well. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 Ce a tym ce Jesu ing a venawh, “Na capa ce qoei hawh hy,” a tinak a tym na awm hy tice a pa ing sim hy. Cedawngawh amah ingkaw a ipkhuikaw boeih ing cangna uhy.
So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son lives. And he himself believed and his whole house.
54 Vawhkaw kawpoek kyi hatnaak ik-oeih ve Jesu ing Judah qam awhkawng Kalili qam na a law coengawh a sai hih voeinaak na awm hy.
This again is a second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
