< Johan 12 >
1 Loentak Poei a phanaak aham khaw kquk nyn a ngaih awh, Lazaru a thihnaak awhkawng a thawhnaak khaw Bethani ce pha hy.
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was (the deceased whom He raised from the dead).
So they gave a dinner for Him there—Martha was serving, while Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.
3 Cawh Meri ing a phu ak tlo soeih nard bawktui boet oet lo nawh Jesu a khaw ce a hloen coengawh a lusam ing thuut pehy. Cawh ce bawktui baw ing ipkhui ce zing khoep hy.
Then Mary, bringing a pound of pure oil of nard, very costly, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped His feet with her hair! And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
4 Cehlai hubat ak khuiawh kaw Juda Iskariot ak mingnaak thlang pynoet, Jesu zawih ham ak cai ing, am ngaih nawh,
Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son (who was about to betray Him), said,
Kumoet thaphu zah qoe law moe,” tihy.
“Why wasn't this oil sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?”
6 (Anih ing hahqahkhqi poek tang tang nawh ak kqawn awm amni, amah ce quk-ai na a awm dawngawh ni; tangka ak khoemkung na awm nawh amah aham cawhkaw tangka ce haw na poepa hy.)
(Now he did not say this because the poor mattered to him, but because he was a thief and had the money box; and used to pilfer what was put in it.)
7 Jesu ing, “Kai a qawk vyih naak hly khawnghi simnaak hamna sai mai seh.
So Jesus said: “Let her be; she has performed this with a view to my burial.
8 Hahqahkhqi taw nangmih a venawh awm poepa kaw, cehlai kai taw nangmih a venawh am awm poepa kawng nyng,” tina hy.
For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
9 Jesu cawh awm hy tice Judahkhqi ing aming zaak awh law unawh, Jesu doeng huh ngaih awh am nawh, thihnaak awhkawng ak tho Lazaru awm huh si ngaih unawh law uhy.
Then a large crowd of the Jews learned that He was there; and they came, not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
10 Cedawngawh khawsoeih boeikhqi ing Lazaru awm him hamna teng uhy;
So the chief priests decided to kill Lazarus as well,
11 Judah thlang khawzah ing a nih ce cangna unawh Jesu venna a mi ceh ak camawh.
in that because of him many of the Jews were defecting and believing into Jesus.
12 A khawngawi nyn awh Poei awh ak law thlang kqeng ing Jesu taw Jerusalem na law hy tice za uhy.
The next day a large crowd that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem,
13 Samtoe khyn unawh ak do na cet uhy. “Hosanna!” “Bawipa ming ing ak law taw zoseennaak awm seh!” “Israel Sangpahrang taw a zoseen seh!” tinawh khy uhy.
took branches from palm trees and went out to meet Him. And they started shouting: “Hosanna!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “King of Israel!”
And finding a young donkey Jesus sat on it; just as it is written:
15 “Aw Zion canu, koeh kqih; toek lah, na Sangpahrang ce meqang awh ngawi kawmsaw law kaw,” tinawh qee ce amyihna.
“Fear no more, daughter of Zion. Look, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!”
(Now His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him, and they had done them to Him.)
17 Lazaru ce phyi khuiawh kawng khy nawh thihnaak awhkawng am thawh awh cawhkaw amik awm thlang kqeng ing awi ce anak khypyi poe uhy.
So the crowd that had been with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify.
18 Thlang khawzah ing, cawhkaw kawpoek kyi ik-oeih a sai ce aming zaak awh anih ce huh aham cet uhy.
That is also why the crowd met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
19 Cedawngawh Farasikhqi ing, “Ikaw amni ti thai voel hawh hy ve, toek lah uh, khawmdek ing amah a hu kquut hawh hy ve!” ti uhy.
So the Pharisees said among themselves: “You can see that you are not making any difference! Just look, the world has gone off after Him!”
20 Poei awh Khawsa bawk aham ak cetkhqi anglakawh Greek thlangkhqi awm awm lawt uhy.
Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the feast.
21 Cekkhqi ce Kalili qam Bethsaida khaw awhkaw Philip a venawh law unawh, qeennaak thoeh uhy. “Jesu huh aham ngaih hlai unyng,” tina uhy.
So these men approached Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested of him saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”
22 Philip ing Andru a venna cet nawh kqawn pehy, Cekcoengawh Andru ingkaw Philip ing Jesu a venawh kqawn pehy nih.
Philip goes and tells Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
But Jesus answered them saying: “The hour has come for the Son of the Man to be glorified.
24 Awitak kanik kqawn peek khqi, camci ce dek awh tla nawh ama thih awhtaw, ak khawi khawina kawm saw; a thih mantaw khawzah na vui thaih hy.
Most assuredly I say to you, if a grain of wheat, having fallen into the ground, does not die, it remains alone; but if it dies it bears a lot of fruit.
25 U awm amah a hqingnaak ak lungnaak taw plam kaw, ve khawmdek awh a hqingnaak ce ak sawhnaak ingtaw kumqui hqingnaak ce khoem kaw. (aiōnios )
The one ‘loving’ his life will waste it, and the one ‘hating’ his life, in this world, will preserve it into eternal life.
If anyone would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, my servant will be too. Further, if anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
27 Tuh kak kawlung khuikha hy, kaw kak kqawn lah voei? ‘Ka Pa, ve atym khuiawh kawng ni hul lah? Amni, ve a dawngawh ni ve atym awh ve ka law hy.
“Now my soul is distressed, and what should I say—‘Father, rescue me from this hour’? But this is why I came to this hour—
Cawh khan benna kaw awi ing, “Zoeksang hawh nyng, zoeksang tlaih bai kawng nyng,” tina hy.
‘Father, glorify your name!’” Then a Voice came out of Heaven, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again!”
29 Cawhkaw amik awm thlang kqeng ing aming zaak awh khawhum awi ni, ti uhy; thlang vang ingtaw khan ceityih ing awi kqawn pehy, ti uhy.
So the crowd that was standing by and listening said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”
30 Jesu ing, “Vawhkaw awi ve nangmih a leeknaak ahamni, kai aham amni.
Jesus answered and said: “It was not for my sake that this Voice came, but for your sakes.
Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be thrown out.
While I, if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to myself.”
33 Vemyihna ak kqawnnaak taw amah a thihnaak hly ceni ak kqawn ngaihnaak hy.
(Now He said this to indicate by what kind of death He was about to die.)
34 Cawh thlang kqeng ing, “Anaa awi awhtaw Khrih taw a poepa na awm kaw, tinawh za unyng, ikawmyihna nang ingtaw, ‘Thlanghqing Capa taw tai na awm kaw,’ na ti bai? Thlanghqing Capa ve a u nu?” tina uhy. (aiōn )
The people answered Him: “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah remains forever; and so how can you say, ‘The Son of the Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘the Son of the Man’?” (aiōn )
35 Cawh Jesu ing cekkhqi venawh, “Nangmih ing vangnaak ve kawlhkalh ca ni nami taak hly hy. Thannaak ing a ni pha khqi hlanawh, vangnaak ak khuiawh cet lah uh. Thannaak ak khuiawh ak cet ing hana nu ka ceh tice am sim hy.
Then Jesus said to them: “The Light will be with you just a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness does not overtake you; the one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
36 Vangnaak a cakhqi na nami awmnaak thai aham, vangnaak nami taak tloek awh ce vangnaak ce ypna lah uh,” tinak khqi hy. Awi ak kqawn coengawh, Jesu ing cehta nawh, cekkhqi ce thuk tak khqi hy.
While you have the Light, believe into the Light, so that you may become sons of light.” Jesus said these things, and going away He was hidden from them.
37 Vawhkaw kawpoek kyi themkhqi boeih ve a mingmih amik huh awh a sai peek coengawh awm a mingmih ing ap cangna bak bak hyn uhy.
Although He had performed so many signs in their presence, they were not believing into Him;
38 Vetaw tawngha Isaiah ing a nak kqawn ce a soepnaak hly hawh ni: “Bawipa, kaimih ak awi ve u ing ak cangnaak, u a venawh nu Bawipa a kut ce ang dang?” a ti ce.
so that the word spoken by Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed what we heard? And to whom has the arm of the Lord really been revealed?”
39 Ve a dawngawh cekkhqi ing am cangna thai hy, tawngha Isaiah ing:
Therefore they were unable to believe, in that Isaiah said again:
40 Ami mik ce hyp sak nawh ami kawlung ce hqam sak hy, Cedawgawh ami mik ing am hu thai unawh, Amik kawlung ingawm am zasim thai uhy, Ang voei na awm am voei thai uhy, Cemyih am mantaw kai ing qoei sak khqi kawng,” tinawh ana qee hawh hy.
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes and understand with their hearts and should turn around, and I would heal them.”
41 Isaiah ing Jesu a boeimangnaak ce ana huh dawngawh vemyihna anak kqawn hawh hy.
Isaiah said these things when he saw His glory and spoke concerning Him.
42 Cawh thlang khawzah ingkaw sawikungkhqi ingawm cangna uhy. Cehlai Farasikhqi ce kqih unawh, sinakawk khuiawh kawng ni hqek hau kaw, ami ti dawngawh amik cangnaak ce ap kqawn uhy;
Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed into Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, so they would not be expelled from the synagogue;
43 Khawsa am kyihnaak anglakawh thlanghqing am kyihnaak ce ngaih bet uhy.
for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 Cawh Jesu ing khy doena, “Thlang ing kai anik cangnaak awh, kai doeng amnik cangna nawh, kai anik tyikung ce awm cangna hy.
Jesus called out and said: “The one believing into me believes not into me but into Him who sent me.
45 Kai ce ani toek awh kai anik tyikung ce hu hy.
And the one seeing me sees Him who sent me.
46 U awm kai anik cangnaak thlang ce than khuiawh ama awmnaak aham, kai taw khawmdek vangnaak aham law nyng.
I, Light, have come into the world so that everyone who believes into me will not remain in the darkness.
47 U awm kak awi za nawh am haana mai seiawm awi am deng nyng. Khawmdek awideng aham am law nyng, ak hul ahamni ka law hy.
Also, if someone hears my words and does not believe, I do not judge him; because I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
48 Kai ni oelh nawh kak awi amak do ak thlang awi ak dengkung ce awm hy; kak kqawn awi ing anih ce khawnghi a dyt awh thawlh sak kaw.
The one who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken, that is what will judge him on the last day;
49 Kamah poek awh awi ap kqawn nyng, cehlai kai anik tyikung ing kak kqawn hly kawi ce nik kqawn sak hy.
because I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me, He gave me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
50 Ak awipeek ing kumqui hqingnaak benna sawi hy tice sim nyng. Cedawngawh Pa ing anik kqawn sak khqi boeih boeih ve dyng hy,” tinak khqi hy. (aiōnios )
And I know that His command is eternal life. So whatever I say, I say it just like the Father told me.” (aiōnios )
