< 2 Samuel 15 >

1 To naah Absalom mah angmah hanah hrang hoi hrang lakok to sak moe, a hmaa ah kami quipangato cawnhsak.
Now after this, Absalom got for himself a carriage and horses, and fifty runners to go before him.
2 Anih loe khawnbang khawnthaw ah angthawk moe, khongkha akunhaih loklam ah angdoet. Lokpunghaih oh naah siangpahrang khaeah lok takroek han angzo kaminawk boih to, Absalom mah angmah khaeah kawk moe, Nang loe naa vangpui ih kami maw? tiah a dueng. To kami mah, Na tamna kai loe Israel acaeng thung ih kami ni, tiah a naa.
And Absalom got up early, morning after morning, and took his place at the side of the public meeting-place: and when any man had a cause which had to come to the king to be judged, then Absalom, crying out to him, said, What is your town? and he would say, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
3 To naah Absalom mah anih khaeah, Khenah, na thuih ih lok loe hoih moe, toeng; toe na lok tahngai hanah siangpahrang ih kami midoeh om ai, tiah a naa.
And Absalom would say to him, See, your cause is true and right; but no man has been named by the king to give you a hearing.
4 To pacoengah Absalom mah, Prae thungah kai hae lokcaekkung ah ka oh nahaeloe, lokpunghaih tawn kami hoi lokthuih han tawn kaminawk kai khaeah angzoh o naah, kai mah anih hanah katoeng ah lok ka caek pae han, tiah a naa.
And more than this, Absalom said, If only I was made judge in the land, so that every man who has any cause or question might come to me, and I would give a right decision for him!
5 Mi kawbaktih kami doeh anih khaeah caeh moe, a hmaa ah akuep o naah, Absalom mah anih to ban hoiah pazut, anih to patawnh moe, a mok.
And if any man came near to give him honour, he took him by the hand and gave him a kiss.
6 Absalom loe siangpahrang khae lokthuih han angzo Israel kaminawk boih khaeah to tiah sak; to pongah Israel kaminawk ih palungthin to lak thaih.
And this Absalom did to everyone in Israel who came to the king to have his cause judged: so Absalom, like a thief, took away the hearts of the men of Israel.
7 Saning quipalito boeng naah loe, Absalom mah siangpahrang khaeah, Hebron ah ka caeh moe, ka sak ih Angraeng khaeah lokkamhaih baktih toeng ah ka sak han.
Now at the end of four years, Absalom said to the king, Let me go to Hebron and give effect to the oath which I made to the Lord:
8 Na tamna kai Syria prae Geshur vangpui ah ka oh naah, Angraeng mah Jerusalem ah amlaemsak let nahaeloe, Hebron ah Angraeng to ka bok han, tiah lokkamhaih ka sak boeh, tiah a naa.
For while I was living in Geshur in Aram, your servant made an oath, saying, If ever the Lord lets me come back to Jerusalem, I will give him worship in Hebron.
9 Siangpahrang mah anih khaeah, Longhoihta hoiah caeh ah, tiah a naa. To pongah anih loe, Hebron ah caeh.
And the king said to him, Go in peace. So he got up and went to Hebron.
10 To naah Absalom mah Israel prae boih ah tamquta hoi laicaehnawk to patoeh moe, Mongkah lok na thaih o naah, Absalom loe, Hebron ah siangpahrang ah oh, tiah thui oh, tiah a naa.
But Absalom at the same time sent watchers through all the tribes of Israel to say, At the sound of the horn you are to say, Absalom is king in Hebron.
11 Absalom loe Jerusalem ih kami cumvai hnetto hoi nawnto caeh; to kaminawk loe poekciimhaih hoiah caeh o, to ah kaom hmuen to tidoeh panoek o ai.
And with Absalom, at his request, went two hundred men from Jerusalem, who were completely unconscious of his designs.
12 Absalom mah David poekhaih kahoih paekkung, Gilo vangpui kami, Ahithophel mah angmah ih vangpui Giloh ah angbawnhaih sak naah, Absalom mah kawk. Absalom hnukbang kaminawk pop o aep aep pongah, tamquta hoiah sak pacaeng ih hmuen doeh pop aep.
And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, one of David's helpers, from Giloh his town, while he was making the offerings. And the design against David became strong, for more and more people were joined to Absalom.
13 To naah laicaeh maeto David khaeah angzoh moe, Israel kaminawk ih palungthin loe Absalom khaeah ni oh boih boeh, tiah a naa.
And one came to David and said, The hearts of the men of Israel have gone after Absalom.
14 To naah David mah Jerusalem ah angmah hoi nawnto kaom a tamnanawk khaeah, Angthawk oh, cawn o si boeh; to tih ai nahaeloe aicae loe Absalom ih ban hoi a loih o mak ai boeh; Karangah caeh o si boeh; to tih ai nahaeloe aicae kae hanah karangah angzo o ueloe, aicae to hum pacoengah, vangpui doeh sumsen hoiah paro o boih tih boeh, tiah a naa.
And David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, Come, let us go in flight, or not one of us will be safe from Absalom: let us go without loss of time, or he will overtake us quickly and send evil on us, and put the town to the sword.
15 Siangpahrang ih tamnanawk mah, siangpahrang khaeah, Ka angraeng siangpahrang mah qoih ih hmuen to na tamnanawk mah sak han ka oh o coek boeh hmang, tiah a naa o.
And the king's servants said to the king, See, your servants are ready to do whatever the king says is to be done.
16 Siangpahrang loe tacawt, to naah a imthung takoh boih a hnukah bang o. Toe zula hatonawk loe siangpahrang im khetzawn hanah a caeh taak.
So the king went out, taking with him all the people of his house, but for ten of his women, who were to take care of the house.
17 Siangpahrang tacawt naah, kaminawk boih anih hnukah bang o; nasetto maw kangthla ah a caeh o pacoengah, anghak o.
And the king went out, and all his servants went after him, and made a stop at the Far House.
18 A tamnanawk mah anih to hmabang ah caeh o taak; Kereth kaminawk, Peleth kaminawk, anih hnukah Gath prae hoi angzo Git kami cumvai taruktonawk mah, doeh siangpahrang to poeng o moe, anih hmaa ah caeh o.
And all the people went on by his side; and all the Cherethites and all the Pelethites and all the men of Ittai of Gath, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, went on before the king.
Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, Why are you coming with us? go back and keep with the king: for you are a man of another country, you are far from the land of your birth.
20 Nang loe cangduem ah ni nang zoh vop; vaihniah kaicae hoi nawnto nam het han maw? tiah a naa. Kai loe caeh thaih karoek to ka caeh han pongah, nam nawkamyanawk to kawk loe, amlaem let ah; tahmenhaih hoi loktang loe na nuiah om nasoe, tiah a naa.
It was only yesterday you came to us; why then am I to make you go up and down with us? for I have to go where I may; go back then, and take your countrymen with you, and may the Lord's mercy and good faith be with you.
And Ittai the Gittite in answer said, By the living Lord, and by the life of my lord the king, in whatever place my lord the king may be, for life or death, there will your servant be.
22 To naah David mah Ittai khaeah, Caeh ah, hmabang caeh ah, tiah a naa. To pongah Git acaeng Ittai loe, angmah hoi nawnto kaom kathoeng kalen kaminawk hoi nawnto caeh o poe.
And David said to Ittai, Go forward, then. And Ittai the Gittite went on, with all his men and all the little ones he had with him.
23 Prae kaminawk boih qah o; a hnukbang kaminawk loe caeh o poe, siangpahrang Kidron vacong poeng pacoengah, kaminawk boih loe praezaek bangah caeh o.
And there was great weeping in all the country when all the people went through; and the king himself was waiting in the Kidron valley and all the people went by him in the direction of the olive-tree on the edge of the waste land.
24 Zadok hoi Levi kaminawk boih doeh to ah oh o moe, Levinawk mah Sithaw lokkamhaih thingkhong to aput o. Sithaw ih thingkhong to amtik o moe, kaminawk mah vangpui tacawt o taak boih ai karoek to, Abiathar mah angbawnhaih to sak.
Then Zadok came, and Abiathar, and with them the ark of God's agreement: and they put down the ark of God, till all the people from the town had gone by.
25 To naah siangpahrang mah Zadok khaeah, Sithaw ih thingkhong to vangpui thungah amlaem o haih let ah; Angraeng mikcuk naakrak ah ka oh nahaeloe, angmah kai hanah na sin pae let ueloe, a ohhaih ahmuen doeh na hnusak let tih hmang.
And the king said to Zadok, Take the ark of God back into the town: if I have grace in the eyes of the Lord, he will let me come back and see it and his House again:
26 Toe anih mah kai khaeah, na nuiah palung ka hoih ai, tiah na thui nahaeloe, khenah, kai loe hae ah ka oh; angmah hoih, tiah poek ih baktih toengah, ka nuiah sah halat nasoe, tiah a naa.
But if he says, I have no delight in you: then, here I am; let him do to me what seems good to him.
27 Siangpahrang mah qaima Zadok khaeah, Nang loe tahmaa na ai maw? Na capa Ahimaaz, Abiathar capa Jonathan hoi capa hnik to kawkah loe, longhoihta ah vangpui ah amlaem o let ah.
The king said further to Zadok the priest, See, you and Abiathar are to go back to the town in peace, with your two sons, Ahimaaz, your son, and Jonathan, the son of Abiathar.
28 Na lok kai khaeah angzo ai karoek to, azawn ih praezaek ah kang zing han, tiah a naa.
See, I will be waiting at the way across the river, in the waste land, till I get news from you.
29 To pongah Zadok hoi Abiathar mah Sithaw ih thingkhong to lak hoi moe, Jerusalem ah amlaem hoi pacoengah, to ah oh hoi.
So Zadok and Abiathar took the ark of God back to Jerusalem, and did not go away from there.
30 Toe David loe Olive mae nuiah dawh tahang poe, anih loe qahhaih hoiah caeh tahang, a lu to khuk moe, khokpanai abuen ai ah caeh tahang; anih hoi nawnto caeh kaminawk doeh lu to khuk o moe, qahhaih hoiah caeh o tahang.
And David went up the slopes of the Mount of Olives weeping all the way, with his head covered and no shoes on his feet: and all the people who were with him, covering their heads, went up weeping.
31 Absalom hoi nawnto kasae sak han pacaeng abu thungah, Ahithophel doeh athum toeng, tiah David khaeah thuih pae o. To pongah David mah, Aw ka Angraeng, Ahithophel poekhaih to amthuhaih ah angcoengsak ah, tiah lawkthuih.
And word came to David, saying, Ahithophel is among those who are joined to Absalom. And David said, O Lord, let the wisdom of Ahithophel be made foolish.
32 Mae nui phak naah David loe Sithaw to bok; khenah, Ark acaeng Hushai loe a khukbuen to asih moe, a lu nuiah maiphu phuih pacoengah, anih hnuk hanah a zing;
Now when David had come to the top of the slope, where they gave worship to God, Hushai the Archite came to him in great grief with dust on his head:
33 David mah anih khaeah, Kai khaeah nang zoh nahaeloe, kai han hmuenzit ah na om moeng tih.
David said to him, If you go on with me, you will be a trouble to me:
34 Toe vangpui ah nam laem let moe, Absalom khaeah, Aw siangpahrang, na tamna ah ka oh han; canghniah doeh nampa ih tamna ah ni ka oh, toe vaihi loe na tamna ah ka oh han boeh, tiah na naa nahaeloe, Ahithophel mah paek ih poekhaih pazawkkung ah na om ueloe, kai abomhaih ah doeh om tih.
But if you go back to the town and say to Absalom, I will be your servant, O king; as in the past I have been your father's servant, so now I will be yours: then you will be able to keep Ahithophel's designs against me from being put into effect.
35 Qaima Zadok, Abiathar hoiah nawnto om oh loe, siangpahrang im ah na thaih ih loknawk to nihnik khaeah thui paeh.
And have you not there Zadok and Abiathar the priests? so whatever comes to your ears from the king's house, give word of it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36 Khenah, Zadok capa Ahimaaz hoi Abiathar capa Jonathan, hnik doeh to ah nawnto oh o; na thaih ih loknawk to nihnik khae thui boih ah, nihnik mah kai na thaih hoi sak tih hmang, tiah a naa.
See, they have with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok's son, and Jonathan, the son of Abiathar; by them you may send word to me of everything which comes to your ears.
37 To pongah Absalom loe Jerusalem vangpui thungah akun, David ih ampui Hushai doeh vangpui ah amlaem let.
So Hushai, David's friend, went into the town, and Absalom came to Jerusalem.
