2 Mafumu 8
1 Ndipo Elisa anawuza mayi amene anamuukitsira mwana wake kuti, “Choka kuno pamodzi ndi banja lako ndipo ukakhale kulikonse ukufuna, chifukwa Yehova akubweretsa njala ya zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri mʼdziko muno.”
And Elisha' spoke unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn; for the Lord hath called for a famine, and it is also coming in the land for seven years.
2 Mayiyo ananyamuka nachita zimene munthu wa Mulungu ananena. Iye pamodzi ndi banja lake anachoka nakakhala ku dziko la Afilisti zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri.
And the woman arose, and did after the word of the man of God; and she went, she with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 Zitatha zaka zisanu ndi ziwirizo anabwera kuchokera ku dziko la Afilisti ndipo anapita kwa mfumu kukafunsa za nyumba yake ndi munda wake.
And it came to pass at the end of seven years, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines; and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
4 Ndipo mfumu inkayankhula ndi Gehazi, mtumiki wa munthu wa Mulungu kuti, “Tandiwuza zinthu zikuluzikulu zimene Elisa wachita.”
And the king was just speaking with Gechazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Relate to me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha' hath done.
5 Pamene Gehazi ankayiwuza mfumuyo momwe Elisa anaukitsira anthu akufa, mayi amene mwana wake Elisa anamuukitsa kwa akufayo analowa kudzafunsa mfumu za nyumba yake ndi munda wake. Gehazi anati, “Mbuye wanga mfumu, mayi wake ndi uyu ndipo mwana wakeyo ndi uyu amene Elisa anamuukitsa kwa akufa.”
And it came to pass, as he was just relating to the king how he had restored the dead to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gechazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha' restored to life.
6 Mfumu inafunsa mayiyo za nkhaniyi ndipo iye anayifotokozera mfumuyo. Ndipo mfumu inasankha munthu woti ayendetse nkhani yake ndipo inati, “Mubwezereni zonse zimene zinali zake, kuphatikizapo phindu lonse lochokera mʼmunda wake, kuyambira tsiku limene anachoka mpaka tsopano lino.”
And the king asked of the woman, who related it to him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that belongeth to her, and all the products of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
7 Elisa anapita ku Damasiko, ndipo Beni-Hadadi mfumu ya ku Aramu ankadwala. Mfumuyo itawuzidwa kuti, “Munthu wa Mulungu wabwera kuno kuchokera kutali,”
And Elisha' came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad, the king of Syria, was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come even hither.
8 inawuza Hazaeli kuti, “Tenga mphatso ndipo pita ukakumane ndi munthu wa Mulungu. Ukandifunsire kwa Yehova kudzera mwa iye kuti, ‘Kodi ndidzachira matenda angawa?’”
And the king said unto Chazael, Take a present in thy hand, and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord from him, saying, Shall I recover from this sickness?
9 Choncho Hazaeli anapita kukakumana ndi Elisa, atasenzetsa ngamira 40 mphatso za zinthu zosiyanasiyana zabwino kwambiri za ku Damasiko. Iye analowa mʼnyumba ya Elisa ndi kuyima pamaso pake, ndipo anati, “Mwana wanu Beni-Hadadi wandituma kuti ndidzakufunseni kuti, ‘Kodi ndidzachira matenda angawa?’”
So Chazael went to meet him, and took a present in his hand, and all manner of good things of Damascus, a burden for forty camels, and he came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad the king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover from this sickness?
10 Elisa anayankha kuti, “Pita ndipo ukamuwuze kuti, ‘Udzachira ndithu,’ koma Yehova wandionetsa kuti adzafabe.”
And Elisha' said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover; nevertheless the Lord hath shown me that he shall surely die.
11 Elisa anamuyangʼana kwambiri Hazaeli mpaka anachita manyazi. Pamenepo munthu wa Mulungu anayamba kulira.
And he restrained his countenance, and held back as long as he could: and then wept the man of God.
12 Hazaeli anafunsa kuti, “Mbuye wanga mukulira chifukwa chiyani?” Elisa anayankha kuti, “Chifukwa ndikudziwa choyipa chimene udzachitira Aisraeli. Udzatentha mizinda yawo ya chitetezo, udzapha anyamata awo ndi lupanga, udzaphwanyitsa pansi makanda awo ndiponso udzatumbula mimba za akazi awo oyembekezera.”
And Chazael said, Why doth my Lord weep? And he said, Because I know what evil thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong-holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and their children wilt thou dash, and their pregnant women wilt thou rip up.
13 Ndipo Hazaeli anati, “Kodi kapolo wanune, amene ndine wonyozeka ngati galu, ndingathe bwanji kuchita chinthu chachikulu chotere?” Elisa anayankha kuti, “Yehova wandionetsa kuti iwe udzakhala mfumu ya ku Aramu.”
And Chazael said, But what is thy servant, the dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha' said, The Lord hath caused me to see thee as king over Syria.
14 Choncho Hazaeli anasiyana ndi Elisa ndi kubwerera kwa mbuye wake. Beni-Hadadi atafunsa kuti, “Elisa wakuwuza chiyani?” Hazaeli anayankha kuti, “Elisa wandiwuza kuti inu mudzachira ndithu.”
So he went away from Elisha', and came to his master; who said to him, What hath Elisha' said to thee? And he said, he said to me that thou couldst surely recover.
15 Koma mmawa mwake Hazaeli anatenga nsalu yokhuthala ndi kuyiviyika mʼmadzi ndipo anaphimba nayo nkhope ya mfumu, kotero mfumuyo inafa. Hazaeli analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a cover lid, and dipped it in water, and spread it over his face, and he died: and Chazael became king in his stead.
16 Chaka chachisanu cha ufumu wa Yoramu mwana wa Ahabu mfumu ya ku Israeli, Yehosafati ali mfumu ya ku Yuda, Yehoramu mwana wake anakhala mfumu ya Ayuda.
And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Achab the king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being yet king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah became king.
17 Yehoramu analowa ufumu ali ndi zaka 32, ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu zaka zisanu ndi zitatu.
Thirty and two years old was he when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem.
18 Iye anatsatira khalidwe la mafumu a ku Israeli, monga mmene linachitira banja la Ahabu, popeza iye anakwatira mwana wa Ahabu. Yehoramu anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova.
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Achab had done; for a daughter of Achab had he for wife: and he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord.
19 Komabe, chifukwa cha mtumiki wake Davide, Yehova sanafune kuwononga Yuda popeza Yehova analonjeza Davide kuti adzamupatsa nyale pamodzi ndi zidzukulu zake mpaka muyaya.
Yet would the Lord not destroy Judah for the sake of David his servant, as he said unto him, to give him a government and to his children at all times.
20 Pa nthawi ya Yehoramu, Edomu anawukira ulamuliro wa Yuda ndipo anadzisankhira mfumu.
In his days Edom revolted from under the power of Judah, and they appointed a king over themselves.
21 Choncho Yehoramu anapita ku Zairi pamodzi ndi magaleta ake onse. Ndipo iye anakantha Aedomu amene anamuzungulira pamodzi ndi oyendetsa magaleta ake usiku. Koma ankhondo ake anathawa napita ku misasa yawo.
And Joram went over to Za'ir, and all the chariots were with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled unto their tents.
22 Mpaka lero lino Edomu ndi wowukira Yuda. Nthawi yomweyo mzinda wa Libina unawukiranso.
Yet Edom revolted from under the power of Judah even until this day; then did Libnah revolt at the same time.
23 Ndipo ntchito zina za Yehoramu ndi zonse zomwe anachita, kodi sizinalembedwe mʼbuku la mbiri ya mafumu a Yuda?
And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
24 Choncho Yehoramu anamwalira ndipo anayikidwa mʼmanda pamodzi ndi makolo ake mu Mzinda wa Davide. Ndipo Ahaziya mwana wake analowa ufumu mʼmalo mwake.
And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Achazyahu his son became king in his stead.
25 Mʼchaka cha khumi ndi chiwiri cha Yoramu mwana wa Ahabu mfumu ya Israeli, Ahaziya mwana wa Yehoramu mfumu ya Yuda anayamba kulamulira.
In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Achab the king of Israel became Achazyahu, the son of Jehoram the king of Judah, king.
26 Ahaziya anali ndi zaka 22 pamene anakhala mfumu ndipo analamulira mu Yerusalemu chaka chimodzi. Amayi ake anali Ataliya, chidzukulu cha Omiri mfumu ya Israeli.
Two and twenty years old was Achazyahu when he became king; and one year did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was 'Athalyahu, the [grand-]daughter of 'Omri the king of Israel.
27 Iye anatsatira makhalidwe a banja la Ahabu ndipo anachita zoyipa pamaso pa Yehova, monga linachitira banja la Ahabu, pakuti anali mkamwini wa banja la Ahabu.
And he walked in the way of the house of Achab, and did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, like the house of Achab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Achab.
28 Ahaziya anapita pamodzi ndi Yoramu mwana wa Ahabu kukachita nkhondo ndi Hazaeli mfumu ya Aramu ku Ramoti Giliyadi. Aaramu anavulaza Yoramu.
And he went with Joram the son of Achab to the war against Chazael the king of Syria at Ramoth-gil'ad: and the Syrians smote Joram.
29 Choncho mfumu Yoramu inabwerera ku Yezireeli kuti ikachire mabala ake amene Aaramu anamuvulaza ku Rama pa nkhondo yake ndi Hazaeli mfumu ya Aramu. Tsono Ahaziya mwana wa Yehoramu mfumu ya ku Yuda anapita ku Yezireeli kuti akamuone Yoramu mwana wa Ahabu, popeza nʼkuti akudwala.
And king Joram returned to be healed in Yizre'el of the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him at Ramah, when he was fighting against Chazael the king of Syria. And Achazyahu the son of Jehoram the king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Achab in Yizre'el, because he was sick.
