Числа 22
1 Подир това израилтяните отпътуваха и разположиха стан на моавските полета оттатък Иордан, срещу Ерихон.
And the children of Israel set forward, and encamped in the plains of Moab, on this side of the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
2 А Валак Сепфоровият син видя всичко що стори Израил на аморейците.
And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Emorites.
3 И Моав се уплаши много от людете, защото бяха многочислени; и Моав се обезпокояваше поради израилтяните.
And Moab was greatly afraid of the people, because it was numerous; and Moab was horrified because of the children of Israel.
4 И Моав рече на мадиамските старейшини: Сега това множество ще пояде всичко около нас, както говедо пояжда полската трева. И Валак Сепфоровият син, който в това време беше цар на моавците,
And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now will this assemblage devour all that is round about us, as the ox devoureth the grass of the field; and Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.
5 изпрати посланици до Валаама Веоровия син във Фатур, който е при реката Евфрат, в земята на ония, които бяха людете му, за да го повикат като му кажат: Ето, народ излезе из Египет; ето, покриват лицето на земята, и са разположени срещу мене;
And he sent messengers unto Bil'am the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river, in the land of the children of his people, to have him called; saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt; behold, it covereth the surface of the earth, and it is abiding opposite to me:
6 Ела сега, прочее, моля ти се, прокълни ми тия люде, защото са по-силни от мене, негли бих могъл да преодолея, та да ги поразим, и да мога да ги изпъдя из земята; понеже зная, че оня, когото ти благословиш, е благословен, а когото прокълнеш е проклет.
And now do but come, curse me this people; for it is too mighty for me; peradventure I may be able to smite it, that I may drive it out of the land; for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
7 И тъй, моавските старейшини и мадиамските старейшини отидоха, с възнаграждение в ръце за врачуването; и, като дойдоха при Валаама, казаха му Валаковите думи.
And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Bil'am, and spoke unto him the words of Balak.
8 А той им рече: Пренощувайте тука, и ще ви дам отговор, според каквото ми каже Господ. И така моавските първенци останаха у Валаама.
And he said unto them, Remain you here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the Lord may speak unto me; and the princes of Moab abode with Bil'am.
9 И Бог дойде при Валаама и рече: Какви са тия човеци у тебе?
And God came unto Bil'am, and said, Who are these men with thee?
10 И Валаам рече на Бога: Валак Сепфоровият син, цар на моавците, ги е пратил до мене да кажат:
And Bil'am said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, the king of Moab, hath sent unto me, [saying, ]
11 Ето, людете, които излязоха из Египет, покриват лицето на земята; дойди сега, прокълни ми ги, негли бих могъл да се бия с тях и да ги изпъдя.
Behold, there is the people that is come out of Egypt, and covereth the face of the earth: now come, denounce it for me; peradventure I shall be able to fight against it, and drive it away.
12 А Бог рече на Валаама: Да не отидеш с тях, нито да прокълнеш людете, защото са благословени.
And God said unto Bil'am, Thou shalt not go with them: thou shalt not curse the people; for it is blessed.
13 И тъй, Валаам, като стана сутринта, каза на Валаковите първенци: Идете в земята си, защото Господ отказа да ме пусне да дойда с вас.
And Bil'am rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Go back to your land; for the Lord refuseth to give me leave to go with you.
14 Тогава моавските първенци станаха та дойдоха при Валака и рекоха: Валаам отказа да дойде с нас.
And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Bil'am refuseth to come with us.
15 А Валак пак изпрати първенци, по-много и по-почтени от ония.
And Balak sent yet again princes, more in number, and more honorable than those.
16 И те, като дойдоха при Валаама, му казаха: Така казва Валак Сепфоровият син: Моля ти се, нищо да те не спре да не дойдеш до мене;
And they came to Bil'am, and said to him, Thus hath said Balak the son of Zippor, Do not suffer thyself, I pray thee, to be prevented from coming unto me;
17 защото ще те въздигна до голяма почит, и ще сторя все що би ми рекъл; прочее, дойди, моля, прокълни ми тия люде.
For I will honor thee greatly, and whatsoever thou mayest say unto me will I do: and only come, I pray thee, denounce me this people.
18 А Валаам отговори на Валаковите слуги, казвайки: Ако би ми дал Валак и къщата си пълна със сребро и злато, аз не мога да престъпя думата на Господа моя Бог, да направя по-малко или повече.
And Bil'am answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not transgress the order of the Lord my God, to do a small or a great thing.
19 За това, моля, пренощувайте и вие тука, за да се науча какво още ще ми каже Господ.
And now, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the Lord will farther speak with me.
20 И Бог дойде при Валаама през нощта, та му рече: Щом са дошли човеците да те повикат, стани иди с тях; но само онова, което ти река, него да направиш.
And God came unto Bil'am at night, and said unto him, If to call thee the men have come, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I shall speak unto thee, that shalt thou do.
21 За това, Валаам стана на сутринта, оседла ослицата си, и отиде с моавските първенци.
And Bil'am rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
22 Но Божият гняв пламна за гдето отиде; и ангел Господен застана на пътя пред Валаама, за да му се възпротиви; (а той яздеше на ослицата си, и двамата му слуги бяха с него).
And the anger of God was kindled, because he went; and an angel of the Lord placed himself in the way to be a hindrance to him; and he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
23 И понеже ослицата видя, че ангелът Господен стоеше на пътя с гол нож в ръка, ослицата се отби от пътя и отиваше към полето; а Валаам удари ослицата, за да я оправи в пътя.
And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Bil'am smote the ass, to make her turn into the way.
24 Тогава ангелът Господен застана на един нисък път между лозята, дето имаше преграда отсам и преграда оттам край пътя.
But the angel of the Lord stepped into a path between the vineyards, [with] a wall on this side, and a wall on that side.
25 И понеже ослицата видя ангела Господен, облегна се към зида и притисна Валаамовата нога до зида; и той я удари пак.
And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she forced herself against the wall, and pressed Bil'am's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
26 После ангелът Господен отиде още напред и застана на едно тясно място, гдето нямаше къде да си отбие ни надясно ни наляво.
And the angel of the Lord went yet farther, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right or to the left.
27 И понеже ослицата видя ангела Господен, тя падна под Валаама; а Валаам се разлюти и удари ослицата с тоягата си.
And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she lay down under Bil'am: whereupon Bil'am's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a stick.
28 Тогава Господ отвори устата на ослицата, и тя рече на Валаама: Що съм ти сторила та ме биеш вече три пъти?
And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Bil'am, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
29 А Валаам рече на ослицата: Защо се подигна с мене. Ах, да имах нож в ръката си! сега бих те заклал.
And Bil'am said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: had I but a sword in my hand, I would assuredly have now killed thee.
30 И ослицата рече на Валаама: Не съм ли аз твоята ослица, на която си яздил през целия си живот до днес? Имала ли съм навик друг път да ти правя така? А той рече: Не.
And the ass said unto Bil'am, Am not I thy ass, upon which thou hast ridden from thy commencement unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? and he said, No.
31 Тогава Господ отвори очите на Валаама, и той видя ангела Господен стоящ на пътя с гол нож в ръката си; и преклони глава и падна на лицето си.
Then the Lord opened the eyes of Bil'am, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head and prostrated himself on his face.
32 И ангелът Господен му каза: Ти защо би ослицата си вече три пъти? Ето, аз излязох да ти се съпротивя, защото пътят ти не е прав пред мене;
And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thy ass these three times? behold, I went out to be a hindrance; because the journey which is odious to me was too quickly begun.
33 и ослицата ме видя и се отби от мене, ето, три пъти; ако да не бе се отбила от мене, до сега да съм те убил, а нея да съм оставил жива.
And the ass saw me, and turned aside before me these three times; if she had not turned aside from me, I would surely now not only have slain thee, but saved her alive.
34 Тогава Валаам рече на ангела Господен: Съгреших, защото не знаех, че ти стоеше на пътя против мене; и сега, ако това не ти е угодно, аз ще се върна.
And Bil'am said unto the angel of the Lord, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou wast standing against me in the way; but now, if it be evil in thy eyes, I will return home again.
35 А ангелът Господен рече на Валаама: Иди с човеците; но само словото, което ти кажа, него да говориш. И тъй, Валаам отиде с Валаковите първенци.
And the angel of the Lord said unto Bil'am, Go with the men; however, only the word which I will speak unto thee, that shalt thou speak: and Bil'am went with the princes of Balak.
36 А като чу Валак, че иде Валаам, излезе да го посрещне до един моавски град разположен там, гдето Арнон е границата, в най-далечната част на границата.
And when Balak heard that Bil'am was come, he went out to meet him unto 'Ir-Moab, which is on the border of Arnon, which is at the outmost end of the boundary.
37 Тогава Валак рече на Валаама: Не пратих ли до тебе усърдно да те повикат? Защо не дойде при мене? Не мога ли да те въздигна до почит?
And Balak said unto Bil'am, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to have thee called? wherefore camest thou not unto me? in truth, am I not able to honor thee?
38 А Валаам рече на Валака: Ето, дойдох при тебе; но имам ли сега власт да говоря нещо? Каквато дума тури Бог в устата ми, нея ще говоря.
And Bil'am said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee; have I now any power whatever to speak the least? the word that God may put in my mouth, that alone must I speak.
39 И Валаам отиде с Валака, и дойдоха в Кириатузот.
And Bil'am went with Balak, and they came unto Kiryath-chuzoth.
40 И Валак жертвува говеда и овци, и изпрати от тях и на Валаама и на първенците, които бяха с него,
And Balak slew oxen and sheep, and sent to Bil'am and to the princes that were with him.
41 А на сутринта Валак взе Валаама и го заведе на високите Ваалови места от гдето, той видя людете до крайната им част.
And it came to pass in the morning, that Balak took Bil'am, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, and he saw thence a portion of the people.
