যিরমিয়ের বই 21
1 সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য যিরমিয়ের কাছে উপস্থিত হল, যখন রাজা সিদিকিয় মল্কিয়ের পুত্র পশ্হূরকে ও মাসেয়ের পুত্র যাজক সফনিয়কে তাঁর কাছে প্রেরণ করেন। তারা বলল,
The word which came unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, —when King Zedekiah sent unto him Pashhur, son of Malchiah, and Zephaniah, son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying:
2 “আমাদের জন্য সদাপ্রভুর কাছে জিজ্ঞাসা করুন, কারণ ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজার আমাদের আক্রমণ করছেন। হয়তো সদাপ্রভু আমাদের পক্ষে বিস্ময়কর কাজ করবেন, যেমন তিনি পূর্বেও করেছিলেন, তাহলে নেবুখাদনেজার আমাদের কাছ থেকে চলে যাবেন।”
Enquire for us I pray thee of Yahweh, in that, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, maketh war against us, —Peradventure Yahweh will deal with us according to all his wonders, so that he go up from us.
3 কিন্তু যিরমিয় তাদের উত্তর দিলেন, “তোমরা সিদিকিয়কে বলো,
Then said Jeremiah unto them, —Thus, shall ye say unto Zedekiah:
4 ‘ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: তোমাদের হাতে যুদ্ধের যেসব অস্ত্র আছে, যেগুলি তোমরা ব্যাবিলনের রাজা ও কলদীয়দের, যারা নগর-প্রাচীরের বাইরে অবরোধ করে আছে, তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবহার করতে চাও, আমি সেগুলি এই নগরের অভিমুখে ফেরাব। সেই তাদের আমি এই নগরে সংগ্রহ করব।
Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel—Behold me! turning back the weapons of war that are in your hand, wherewith, ye, are fighting the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans, who are besieging you outside the wall, —and I will gather them into the midst of this city.
5 আমি প্রসারিত হাত ও পরাক্রমী বাহু দ্বারা, প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধে ও মহারোষে তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে স্বয়ং যুদ্ধ করব।
And I myself, will fight against you, with a hand outstretched, and with an arm of strength, —and with anger and with wrath and with great indignation;
6 যারা এই নগরে বসবাস করে, মানুষ ও পশু নির্বিশেষে তাদের সবাইকে আমি আঘাত করব, আর তারা এক ভয়ংকর মহামারিতে প্রাণত্যাগ করবে।
and I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast, —of a great pestilence, shall they die.
7 তারপরে, সদাপ্রভু বলেন, যারা মহামারি, তরোয়ালের আঘাত ও দুর্ভিক্ষ থেকে রক্ষা পাবে, অর্থাৎ যিহূদার রাজা সিদিকিয়, তার সমস্ত কর্মচারী ও এই নগরের লোকেদের আমি ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজার এবং তাদের শত্রুদের হাতে সমর্পণ করব, যারা তাদের প্রাণনাশ করতে চায়। নেবুখাদনেজার তাদের তরোয়ালের আঘাতে হত্যা করবে; সে তাদের প্রতি কোনো করুণা, মমতা বা সহানুভূতি প্রদর্শন করবে না।’
And after that, Declareth Yahweh—Will I deliver Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants, and the people—even such as are left in this city from the pestilence from the sword and from the famine, —into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, even into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them who are seeking their life, —and he will smite them with the edge of the sword, he will not have pity on them nor will he spare nor will he have compassion.
8 “এছাড়াও, তোমরা লোকদের বলো, ‘সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: দেখো, আমি তোমাদের সামনে জীবনের পথ ও মৃত্যুর পথ রাখছি।
And unto this people, shalt thou say, Thus, saith Yahweh, —Behold me! setting before you the way, of life, and the way of death:
9 যারাই এই নগরে থাকবে, তারা তরোয়াল, দুর্ভিক্ষ বা মহামারিতে মারা যাবে। কিন্তু যারা বের হয়ে অবরোধকারী ব্যাবিলনীয়দের কাছে আত্মসমর্পণ করবে, তারা বেঁচে থাকবে। তারা তাদের প্রাণরক্ষা করবে।
He that remaineth in this city, shall die—by the sword or by the famine or by the pestilence, —Whereas, he that goeth forth and falleth unto the Chaldeans, who are besieging you, —then shall he live, and, his life, shall become to him, a spoil;
10 আমি এই নগরের মঙ্গল নয়, ক্ষতি করার জন্য মনস্থির করেছি, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। এই নগর ব্যাবিলনের রাজার হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হবে, আর সে এই নগর আগুন দিয়ে ধ্বংস করবে।’
For I have set my face against this city, for calamity and not for blessing, Declareth Yahweh, —Into the hand of the king of Babylon, shall it be given up, and he will burn it with fire.
11 “এছাড়া, যিহূদার রাজপরিবারকে বলো, ‘তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শোনো;
Now, as to the house of the king of Judah, —hear ye the word of Yahweh: —
12 দাউদ কুলের লোকেরা, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “‘রোজ সকালে ন্যায়বিচারের অনুশীলন করো; যার সর্বস্ব হরণ করা হয়েছে, তার অত্যাচারীদের হাত থেকে তাকে উদ্ধার করো, তা না হলে আমার ক্রোধ আছড়ে পড়বে ও আগুনের মতো জ্বলবে, তা এমনভাবে জ্বলবে যে কেউ তা নিভাতে পারবে না; তোমাদের কৃত সব মন্দ কাজ হল এর কারণ।
O house of David! Thus, saith Yahweh, Administer justice betimes, And deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, —Lest mine indignation come forth like fire And burn and there be none to quench it, Because of the wickedness of your doings:
13 হে জেরুশালেম, আমি তোমার বিরুদ্ধে, যদিও তুমি এই উপত্যকার উপরে, পাথুরে মালভূমির উপরে প্রতিষ্ঠিত আছ, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। তোমরা বলে থাকো, “কে আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে আসতে পারে? আমাদের আশ্রয়স্থানে কে প্রবেশ করতে পারে?”
Behold me! against thee, O thou dweller in the vale on the level rock, Declareth Yahweh, —Ye who are saying, Who shall come down upon us? Who shall enter our habitations?
14 যেমন তোমাদের কাজ, তার যোগ্য প্রতিফল আমি তোমাদের দেব, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। আমি তোমাদের বনগুলিতে এক আগুনে প্রজ্বলিত করব, তা তোমাদের চারপাশের সবকিছুকে গ্রাস করবে।’”
Yet will I bring punishment upon you according to the fruit of your doings, Declareth Yahweh, —and will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all things round about her.
