প্রেরিত 11

1 প্রেরিতশিষ্যেরা ও সমগ্র যিহূদিয়ার ভাইয়েরা শুনতে পেলেন যে, অইহুদিরাও ঈশ্বরের বাক্য গ্রহণ করেছে।

And the apostles and brethren that were in Judea, heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

2 তাই পিতর যখন জেরুশালেমে গেলেন, সুন্নতপ্রাপ্ত বিশ্বাসীরা তাঁর সমালোচনা করল।

And when Peter went up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision contended with him,

3 তারা বলল, “তুমি অচ্ছিন্নত্বক লোকদের বাড়িতে গিয়ে তাদের সঙ্গে খাবার খেয়েছ।”

saying: You went in to uncircumcised men, and ate with them.

4 যা যা ঘটেছিল, প্রথম থেকে শুরু করে শেষ পর্যন্ত পিতর একের পর এক তাদের কাছে ব্যাখ্যা করলেন।

And Peter began, and laid the matter before them in order, saying:

5 “আমি জোপ্পা নগরে প্রার্থনা করছিলাম। তখন ভাবাবিষ্ট হয়ে আমি এক দর্শন লাভ করলাম। আমি দেখলাম বিশাল চাদরের মতো একটি বস্তুর চার প্রান্ত ধরে আকাশ থেকে নিচে নামিয়ে দেওয়া হচ্ছে। আমি যেখানে ছিলাম, সেটা আমার কাছে সেখানে নেমে এল।

I was in the city of Joppa, praying; and, while in a trance, I saw a vision, some vessel like a great sheet, descending, let down from heaven by the four corners; and it came even to me.

6 আমি তার উপরে দৃষ্টিপাত করে পৃথিবীর সব ধরনের চতুষ্পদ প্রাণী, বন্যপশু, বিভিন্ন সরীসৃপ ও আকাশের পাখি দেখতে পেলাম।

When I had looked attentively into it, I observed and saw four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts and creeping things and birds of the air.

7 তারপর আমি শুনলাম, এক কণ্ঠস্বর আমাকে বলছেন, ‘ওঠো পিতর, মারো ও খাও।’

And I heard a voice saying to me, Rise, Peter, kill and eat.

8 “আমি উত্তর দিলাম, ‘কিছুতেই নয়, প্রভু! কখনও কোনো অশুদ্ধ বা অশুচি কিছু আমার মুখে প্রবেশ করেনি।’

But I said, By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.

9 “দ্বিতীয়বার সেই কণ্ঠস্বর আকাশ থেকে বলে উঠলেন, ‘ঈশ্বর যা শুচিশুদ্ধ করেছেন, তুমি তাকে অশুদ্ধ বোলো না।’

But the voice answered me a second time from heaven, What God has cleansed, you must not call common.

10 এরকম তিনবার হল। তারপর সেটাকে আবার আকাশে তুলে নেওয়া হল।

This was done the third time, and all was drawn up again into heaven.

11 “ঠিক সেই সময়ে, যে তিনজন লোককে কৈসরিয়া থেকে আমার কাছে পাঠানো হয়েছিল, তারা সেই বাড়ির কাছে এসে দাঁড়াল, যেখানে আমি ছিলাম।

And behold, three men who had been sent to me from Cæsarea, immediately came to the house where I was.

12 পবিত্র আত্মা আমাকে বললেন, তাদের সঙ্গে যেতে আমি যেন কোনো দ্বিধাবোধ না করি। এই ছ-জন ভাইও আমার সঙ্গে গিয়েছিলেন এবং আমরা সেই ব্যক্তির বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করলাম।

And the Spirit commanded me to go with them without hesitation. And these six brethren accompanied me. And we entered the man’s house:

13 তিনি আমাদের বললেন, কীভাবে তিনি এক স্বর্গদূতের দর্শন পেয়েছেন, যিনি তাঁর বাড়িতে আবির্ভূত হয়ে বলেছিলেন, ‘পিতর নামে পরিচিত শিমোনকে আনার জন্য জোপ্পাতে লোক পাঠাও।

and he told us how he had seen an angel in his house, standing and saying to him, Send to Joppa and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter;

14 সে তোমাদের কাছে এক বার্তা নিয়ে আসবে, যার মাধ্যমে তুমি ও তোমার সমস্ত পরিজন পরিত্রাণ লাভ করবে।’

he will tell you words by which you and all your house shall be saved.

15 “আমি কথা বলা শুরু করলে, পবিত্র আত্মা তাঁদের উপরে নেমে এলেন, যেভাবে তিনি শুরুতে আমাদের উপরে নেমে এসেছিলেন।

And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

16 তখন আমার মনে এল, যে কথা প্রভু বলেছিলেন, ‘যোহন জলে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিতেন, কিন্তু তোমরা পবিত্র আত্মায় বাপ্তিষ্ম লাভ করবে।’

Then I remembered the word of the Lord, as he said, John immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit.

17 সুতরাং, আমরা যখন প্রভু যীশু খ্রীষ্টকে বিশ্বাস করেছিলাম তখন ঈশ্বর যেমন আমাদেরকে বরদান দিয়েছিলেন তেমন যদি তাঁদেরও দিয়ে থাকেন, তাহলে আমি কে যে ঈশ্বরের পথে বাধা সৃষ্টি করব?”

If, then, God gave them the like gift that he gave to us who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, what was I, that I could withstand God?

18 তাঁরা যখন একথা শুনলেন, তাঁদের আর কোনো আপত্তি রইল না। তাঁরা এই বলে ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করতে লাগল, “তাহলে তো ঈশ্বর অইহুদিদেরও জীবন পাওয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে মন পরিবর্তনের সুযোগ দিয়েছেন।”

And when they heard these things, they ceased to contend; and they glorified God, saying: Then, indeed, has God given to the Gentiles also repentance in order to life.

19 এখন স্তিফানকে কেন্দ্র করে নির্যাতন শুরু হওয়ার ফলে যারা ছত্রভঙ্গ হয়ে পড়েছিল, তারা যাত্রা শুরু করে ফিনিসিয়া, সাইপ্রাস ও আন্তিয়খ পর্যন্ত গিয়ে কেবলমাত্র ইহুদিদের কাছে সেই বার্তা প্রচার করেছিল।

Now those who had been dispersed by the persecution that arose after the death of Stephen, traveled as far as Phenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to none but Jews.

20 অবশ্য তাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ, যারা ছিল সাইপ্রাস ও কুরীণের মানুষ, তারা আন্তিয়খে গিয়ে গ্রিকভাষী ইহুদিদের কাছেও কথা বলল, তাদের কাছে প্রভু যীশুর বিষয়ে সুসমাচার প্রচার করল।

But some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

21 প্রভুর হাত তাদের সহবর্তী ছিল এবং বিপুল সংখ্যক মানুষ বিশ্বাস করে প্রভুর প্রতি ফিরল।

And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed, and turned to the Lord.

22 এ বিষয়ের সংবাদ জেরুশালেমে স্থিত মণ্ডলীর কানে পৌঁছাল। তাঁরা বার্ণবাকে আন্তিয়খে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।

And the report concerning them came to the ears of the church that was in Jerusalem; and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.

23 তিনি সেখানে পৌঁছে যখন ঈশ্বরের অনুগ্রহের প্রমাণ দেখতে পেলেন, তিনি আনন্দিত হলেন ও তাদের সকলকে সর্বান্তঃকরণে প্রভুর প্রতি বিশ্বস্ত থাকার জন্য প্রেরণা দিলেন।

When he had come, and had seen the grace of God, he rejoiced; and he exhorted them all to remain, with purpose of heart, faithful to the Lord.

24 তিনি ছিলেন একজন সৎ ব্যক্তি, পবিত্র আত্মায় ও বিশ্বাসে পরিপূর্ণ। আর বিপুল সংখ্যক মানুষকে সেখানে প্রভুর কাছে নিয়ে আসা হয়েছিল।

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great multitude was added to the Lord.

25 এরপরে বার্ণবা শৌলের সন্ধানে তার্ষ নগরে গেলেন।

And Barnabas went to Tarsus, to seek for Saul;

26 তাঁর সন্ধান পেয়ে তিনি তাঁকে আন্তিয়খে নিয়ে এলেন। আর তাঁরা সম্পূর্ণ এক বছর মণ্ডলীর সঙ্গে মিলিত হলেন এবং অনেক লোককে শিক্ষা দিলেন। আর আন্তিয়খেই শিষ্যেরা সর্বপ্রথম খ্রীষ্টিয়ান নামে আখ্যাত হল।

and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came to pass, that they met together in the church for a whole year, and taught a great multitude; and the disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

27 এই সময়ে কয়েকজন ভাববাদী জেরুশালেম থেকে আন্তিয়খে এসে উপস্থিত হলেন।

In those days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

28 তাঁদের মধ্যে আগাব নামে একজন উঠে দাঁড়ালেন এবং (পবিত্র) আত্মার মাধ্যমে ভবিষ্যদ্‌বাণী করলেন যে, সমগ্র রোমীয় সাম্রাজ্য দারুণভাবে দুর্ভিক্ষকবলিত হবে। (এই ঘটনা ঘটেছিল ক্লডিয়াসের রাজত্বকালে।)

And one of them, named Agabus, rose and made known, by the Spirit, that a great famine was about to come on the whole habitable land; which took place in the days of Claudius.

29 শিষ্যেরা, তাদের প্রত্যেকের সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী, যিহূদিয়া প্রদেশে বসবাসকারী ভাইবোনদের কাছে সাহায্য পাঠানোর সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করলেন।

And every one of the disciples determined, as he had the means, to send relief to the brethren that dwelt in Judea;

30 সেই অনুযায়ী তাঁরা বার্ণবা ও শৌলের মারফত তাদের দান প্রাচীনদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।

which also they did; and they sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
