< Joan 5 >

1 Gauça hauen ondoan, Iuduén bestabat cen, eta igan cedin Iesus Ierusalemera.
After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Eta da Ierusalemen ardi plaçán ikuzgarribat Hebraicoz Beth-esda deitzen denic, borz galeria dituenic.
Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda”, having five porches.
3 Hetan cetzan eri, itsu, maingu, membro eyhardun mulço handia, vraren higuitzearen beguira ceudela.
In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralysed, waiting for the moving of the water;
4 Ecen Ainguerubat iausten cen ordu iaquinez ikuzgarrira, eta vra vherritzen çuen: eta vraren vherritze ondoan lehen hartara iausten cena sendatzen cen, cer-ere eritassunec baitzaducan.
for an angel went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.
5 Eta cen guiçon-bat han hoguey eta hemeçortzi vrthez erharçunac çaducanic.
A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years.
6 Haur ikus ceçanean Iesusec cetzala, eta eçaguturic ecen ia dembora lucea çuela, diotsá, Nahi aiz sendatu?
When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 Ihardets cieçón eriac, Iauna, eztiat norc, vra vherritu denean, eçar neçan ikuzgarrira: baina ni ethorten naicen bizquitartean, bercebat ene aitzinean iausten duc.
The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Diotsa Iesusec, Iaiqui adi, altcha eçac eure ohea, eta ebil adi.
Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”
9 Eta bertan senda cedin guiçon hura: eta altcha ceçan bere ohea, eta baçabilan: eta cen Sabbathoa egun hartan.
Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now that day was a Sabbath.
10 Erran cieçoten bada Iuduéc sendatu içan cenari, Sabbathoa duc, eztuc sori ohea eraman deçán.
So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”
11 Ihardets ciecén, Norc ni sendatu bainau, harc erran draut, Altcha eçac eure ohea eta ebil adi.
He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your mat and walk.’”
12 Orduan interroga ceçaten, Nor da hiri erran drauan guiçon hura, Altcha eçac eure ohea eta ebil adi?
Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk’?”
13 Eta sendatu içan cenac, etzaquian nor cen: ecen Iesus apparta cedin leku hartan cen gendetzetic.
But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.
14 Guero eriden ceçan hura Iesusec templean, eta erran cieçón, Huná, sendatu aiz: guehiago bekaturic eztaguiala, cerbait gaizquiago hel eztaquián:
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
15 Ioan cedin guicon haur, eta conta ciecén Iuduey ecen Iesus cela hura sendatu vkan çuena.
The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 Eta halacotz persecutatzen çutén Iuduéc Iesus, eta hura hil nahiz çabiltzan, ceren gauça hauc eguin baitzituen Sabbathoan.
For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.
17 Baina Iesusec ihardets ciecén, Ene Aitac oraindrano obratzen du, eta nic-ere obratzen dut.
But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”
18 Halacotz bada Iuduac hura hil nahiz haguitzago çabiltzan, ez solament ceren Sabbathoa hautsi çuen, baina are ceren haren Aita Iaincoa cela erran baitzuen, bere buruä Iaincoaren bardin eguinez.
For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Ihardets ceçan bada Iesusec, eta erran ciecén, Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, ecin daidi Semeac bere buruz deus, erran nahi da, baldin ikussi ezpadu Aitá obratzen: ecen cer-ere harc eguiten baitu, hura Semeac-ere halaber eguiten du.
Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
20 Ecen Aitác maite du Semea, eta berac eguiten dituen gauça guciac eracusten drauzca, eta hauc baino obra handiagoac eracutsiren drauzca hari, çuec mirets deçaçuençát.
For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21 Ecen nola Aitac resuscitatzen baititu hilac eta viuificatzen, halaber Semeac-ere nahi dituenac viuificatzen ditu.
For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
22 Ecen Aitac eztu iugeatzen nehor, baina iugemendu gucia eman drauca Semeari:
For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgement to the Son,
23 Guciéc Semea ohora deçatençát, Aita ohoratzen duten beçala: Semea ohoratzen eztuenac, eztu ohoratzen Aita, ceinec igorri baitu hura.
that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who doesn’t honour the Son doesn’t honour the Father who sent him.
24 Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, ecen ene hitza ençuten, eta ni igorri nauena sinhesten duenac, baduela vicitze eternala, eta haina ezta condemnationetara ethorriren: baina iragan da heriotic vicitzera. (aiōnios g166)
“Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)
25 Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, ecen ethorten dela orena, eta orain dela, noiz hiléc ençunen baitute Iaincoaren Semearen voza, eta ençunen dutenac vicico dirade.
Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.
26 Ecen nola Aitac baitu vicitze bere baithan, hala eman drauca Semeari-ere bere baithan vicitzearen vkaitea.
For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.
27 Eta bothere eman drauca iugemendu-ere eguiteco, guiçonaren Seme den becembatean.
He also gave him authority to execute judgement, because he is a son of man.
28 Ezteçaçuela mirets haur: ecen ethorriren da orena ceinetan monumentetaco guciéc ençunen baitute haren voza.
Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice
29 Eta ilkiren dirade vngui eguin duqueitenac, vicitzeco resurrectionera: baina gaizqui eguin duqueitenac, condemnationeco resurrectionera.
and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgement.
30 Ecin daidit nic neure buruz deus: dançudan beçala iugeatzen dut: eta ene iugemendua iusto da: ecen eznabila neure vorondatearen ondoan: baina ni igorri nauen, Aitaren vorondatearen ondoan.
I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgement is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
31 Baldin nic testificatzen badut neure buruäz, ene testimoniagea ezta sinhesteco.
“If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid.
32 Bercebat da testificatzen duenic niçaz, eta badaquit ecen eguiazco dela niçaz testificatzen duen testimoniagea.
It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.
33 Çuec igorri vkan duçue Ioannesgana, eta harc testimoniage eman drauca eguiari.
You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
34 Baina nic eztut guiçonaganic testimoniageric recebitzen: baina gauça hauc erraiten ditut çuec salua çaiteztençát.
But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.
35 Hura cen candela çachecana eta argui eguiten çuena: eta çuec nahi içan çarete appur-batetacotz alegueratu haren arguian.
He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
36 Baina nic Ioannesena baino testimoniage handiagoa dut: ecen niri Aitac compli ditzadançat eman drauzquidan obréc, nic eguiten ditudan obra beréc testificatzen duté niçaz ecen Aitac igorri vkan nauela.
But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.
37 Eta ni igorri nauen Aitac berac testificatu du niçaz. Eztuçue haren voza egundano ençun, ezeta haren irudia ikussi.
The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
38 Eta eztuçue haren hitza çuec baithan egoiten dela: ecen nor harc igorri baitu, hura çuec eztuçue sinhesten.
You don’t have his word living in you, because you don’t believe him whom he sent.
39 Informa çaitezte diligentqui Scripturetaric; ecen çuec vste duçue hetan vicitze eternala duçuela: eta hec dirade niçaz testificatzen dutenac. (aiōnios g166)
“You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. (aiōnios g166)
40 Eta etzarete ethorri nahi enegana, vicitzea duçuença.
Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.
41 Gloriaric guiçonetaric eztut hartzen.
I don’t receive glory from men.
42 Baina eçagutzen çaituztet ecen Iaincoaren amorioa eztuçuela çuec baithan.
But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves.
43 Ni ethorri naiz neure Aitaren icenean, eta eznauçue recebitzen: baldin bercebat ethor badadi bere icenean, hura recebituren duçue.
I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
44 Nolatan çuec sinhets ahal deçaqueçue, batac berceaganic gloria recebitzen duçuelaric, eta Iaincoaganic beraganic heldu den gloriá ezpaituçue bilhatzen?
How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?
45 Eztuçuela vste ecen nic accusaturen çaituztedala çuec Aita baithan: bada norc accusa çaitzaten, Moyses, ceinetan çuec sperança baituçue.
“Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.
46 Ecen baldin Moyses sinhesten bacindute, sinhetz nindiroqueçue ni: ecen niçaz harc scribatu vkan du.
For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.
47 Baina baldin haren scribatuac sinhesten ezpadituçue, nolatan ene hitzac sinhetsiren dituçue.
But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
